Is the 2019 RAM 3500 reliable?

That means you should treat this as a truck with strong appeal, but one where condition and maintenance history matter a lot for long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 RAM 3500?

At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on mechanical condition, signs of heavy use, and whether the truck’s capability claims match its actual wear. Because this model is often bought for demanding work, you’ll want to pay close attention to maintenance records and overall condition.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best listings.

• Deal availability: 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 900 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.42% compared with last year.

The current average of $42,792 sits slightly below last year's $46,224.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy at a better entry point now. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the truck has been maintained. If you keep the truck clean, documented, and mechanically sound, you’ll be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval, upscale features, and a softer price than a year ago, the 2019 is a sensible target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you should still compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented truck you can find, since condition and history matter a lot in this segment.
