Is the 2019 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.53/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary repeatedly describes the Frontier as reliable, rugged, and dependable, with owners saying it meets their basic needs without extra frills. That kind of feedback suggests the truck’s appeal is tied to simple, trouble-free ownership rather than cutting-edge features. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Nissan Frontier?

At 60.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from trucks with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, frame, and mechanical condition, especially if the truck was used for work or off-road driving. Focus on overall wear and maintenance records, since condition matters a lot when you’re shopping a simple pickup that may have seen heavy use.

The current average of $18,324 sits slightly below last year's $19,517.

That price movement suggests the Frontier has softened enough to help buyers today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. If you buy at the right price and keep the truck in strong condition, you can help protect your resale position. The model’s steady owner satisfaction should also support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.53/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.53/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,924, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $18,324 average.
• It adds a brand-new engine and transmission.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer-year truck and want the upgraded powertrain, the 2020 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize that improvement over price.
