How much does the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 8.32% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 420 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its rugged design, solid build quality, and modern features. The review summary also points to head-turning looks and strong resale value, while the main practical complaint is a desire for automatic fold-down rear seats. In context, this fits a vehicle that is meant to deliver serious presence, premium materials, and off-road credibility more than everyday utility. Good and great deals account for 35.7% of listings, so there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a rugged design and solid build quality, both of which support the impression of a dependable, well-made vehicle. The expert evaluation also describes it as feeling like it is carved from a single block of steel, which reinforces its tough, durable character. The cost-effectiveness notes also mention that the first scheduled maintenance visit is included on the house. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that its complexity and premium positioning can make upkeep more expensive than you might expect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 73.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used hard or modified. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle still feels tight and well sorted on the road. Because this model is expensive and distinctive, small condition issues can matter more than they would on a mainstream SUV.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is described as extremely upscale, with ultra-soft leather, wood, aluminum accents, LED lighting, and a wide, curved display setup. The base experience still feels premium, but the content also notes that advanced safety features are not standard.
• Powertrain: A 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 makes 416 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic, a 2-speed transfer case, permanent 4WD, and three locking differentials. It is built for serious traction and strong straight-line performance.
• Safety package: The safety content says advanced safety features are not standard, and the tech content notes the absence of the latest semi-automated cruise control and related Mercedes driver-assistance features.
• Infotainment: The Comand system is crisp and colorful, with a customizable instrument panel, touchpad controls, WiFi, and live traffic. It does not offer a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-economy figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class trim should I buy?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is offered in 2 trim levels: G550, AMG G63.

Here's the short version:

• G550: This is the better-value choice if you want the core G-Class experience without chasing the highest price tag. It delivers the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, permanent 4WD, three locking differentials, and the full luxury character that defines the model.
• AMG G63: Choose this if you want the most powerful, most expensive version and are willing to pay for the extra performance character. It is the more extreme option in the lineup.

The safety content notes that advanced safety features are not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare but still plenty of premium pricing.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 420 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.32% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $104,652, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $104,781 sits slightly below last year's $114,289.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. Because the year-round range is relatively tight, condition and equipment can have an outsized effect on what a truck actually brings. Strong demand for the model's image and character should still help support values, especially for well-kept examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class safe?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class has not been tested by NHTSA or IIHS, so there are no crash-test ratings to cite.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content says the G-Class is a safe vehicle on its own, but it also warns that its increased tendency to roll over makes it less ideal for young or inexperienced drivers and families. The tech content adds that the latest semi-automated cruise control is not offered, and related Mercedes driver-assistance features are missing as well. That means you should think of safety here as a mix of strong inherent build quality and notable equipment gaps.

Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 redesign brings a thoroughly modern luxury feel while preserving the G-Class's rugged identity.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $120,791, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $104,781 average.
• It blends serious ruggedness with the kind of luxury and technology expected from Mercedes-Benz.

The bottom line: If you want the better-value entry into the redesigned G-Class, the 2019 is the smarter path. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model-year example with a similar character, the 2020 is the secondary path for buyers who care less about price and more about staying one step newer.
