Used 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class for Sale near Alabama

How much does the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class cost?

Prices have softened 10.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 291 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.4/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall reception. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise the A-Class for its luxurious feel, strong build quality, and easy handling. The review summary also points to a nice balance of compact size and a safe, solid feel, along with sharp styling and good gas mileage.

The trade-offs are clear: the basic controls can feel less premium than you’d expect, and some owners have reported reliability concerns tied to check engine light issues and engine misfires. In practice, this is a compact luxury sedan that feels especially appealing if you want upscale design and tech in an accessible entry point to Mercedes ownership.

Only 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. Review feedback also points to a dependable-feeling, solidly built car that many drivers feel comfortable living with day to day.

The expert evaluation describes it as a well-built sedan that can be a steal if you keep the options in check, which supports the idea that the core car is appealing for long-term ownership. It also notes that the A-Class delivers a lot of car for the money in the $30,000 to $35,000 range, which matters if you want value without stretching too far.

At the same time, owner reports of check engine light issues and engine misfires mean you should be especially careful about maintenance history and diagnostic trouble codes before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class?

At 67.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had any bodywork or electronic repairs. Focus on condition, service records, and whether the car’s tech features and driver-assistance equipment still work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The A 220 is available in front-wheel drive or 4Matic all-wheel drive, and the Premium Package is a major upgrade because it expands the screen setup and adds blind-spot monitoring and keyless entry and ignition. If you want the most complete everyday experience, that package is the one to target.
• Powertrain: There’s only one engine available, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 188 hp and 221 pound-feet of torque. It delivers power in a mostly linear way, but the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission can be slow to shift and stumble at low speeds.
• Safety package: The available Driver Assistance Package adds a full suite of semi-autonomous safety features that support part-time hands-free driving. It is a strong system for stop-and-go traffic, but it does not include the Parking Assistance Package’s 360-degree camera and active parking assist.
• Infotainment: The A-Class uses MBUX with dual 10.75-inch screens, and the Premium Package upgrades the standard 7-inch touchscreen to that larger setup. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are not mentioned, but the system does include augmented video and voice recognition.
• Fuel efficiency: The A-Class is rated at 25 mpg city, 33 highway, and 28 combined.

Which 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class trim should I buy?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class is offered in 1 trim level: A 220.

Here's the short version:

The A 220 is the trim to focus on because it’s the only one, and it already gives you the core A-Class formula: upscale design, strong tech, and a premium-feeling cabin. If you’re shopping used, the best value is usually the example that has the right options rather than the highest sticker price, especially if it includes the Premium Package and the safety equipment you want.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that the Driver Assistance Package is available separately, and it does not include the Parking Assistance Package’s 360-degree camera and active parking assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 291 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.12% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,537, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class's resale value?

The current average of $17,537 sits slightly below last year's $19,513.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that pricing discipline matters: a clean, well-optioned car should still attract interest, but you may need to price competitively to move it.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class safe?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class does not have published NHTSA or IIHS crash-test results in the available data.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The available Driver Assistance Package adds a full suite of semi-autonomous safety features that can handle part-time hands-free driving and is especially useful in heavy traffic. The expert review also notes that the system can get confused in city traffic and that the augmented video display can be distracting because it pulls your eyes off the road.

Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The expert review highlights this year as Mercedes’ more convincing entry-level luxury sedan, with standout technology and a much stronger overall package than the model it replaces.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price, tech, and luxury feel, the 2019 is the one to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, shop carefully for a clean, well-optioned example and prioritize condition and history over chasing the lowest sticker price.
