Used 2019 MINI Cooper for Sale nearTrenton, NJ

How much does the 2019 MINI Cooper cost?

Prices have softened 6.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 433 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2019 MINI Cooper a good car?

Yes — the 2019 MINI Cooper earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise the fun driving experience, sporty performance, stylish design, and unique personality. That lines up with the car’s use case as a small, characterful hatch for you if you care more about driving enjoyment than pure practicality.

The trade-offs are clear: advanced safety features are not standard, the technology can be unintuitive, and value for money is weak. Even so, 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which helps offset some of the cost concerns.

Is the 2019 MINI Cooper reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car you can count on for a fun, distinctive ownership experience, with repeated praise for its sporty character and enjoyable daily use. The expert notes also frame it as a car built around personality and driving enjoyment, which supports the idea that it can be a dependable companion if that’s what you value most.

That said, the same feedback also points to limited passenger space and feature complexity, so long-term ownership risk is more about livability and usability than basic appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 MINI Cooper?

At 67.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, wheels, and interior controls. Because the car’s appeal depends so much on condition and personality, you’ll want to focus on how well the car has been maintained and whether any prior damage affected the way it drives or feels.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin centers on an 8.8-inch infotainment display, navigation, MINI Connected Services, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay, and an available head-up display, but the technology is described as complex and sometimes unintuitive.
• Powertrain: The performance-focused John Cooper Works version uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 228 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, and it’s the most powerful and best-handling version described.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assistant includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, and a speed-limit information system. Adaptive cruise control is available with the Driver Assistance Package, which also bundles Parking Assistant and front parking sensors.
• Infotainment: The top-level system uses an 8.8-inch display with navigation and MINI Connected Services, plus voice control, touchscreen input, and physical controls. Android Auto is not available.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-economy figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2019 MINI Cooper trim should I buy?

The 2019 MINI Cooper is offered in 1 trim level: John Cooper Works.

Here's the short version:

The John Cooper Works trim is the one the expert data clearly elevates as the hottest-performing version, with the most power, the best handling, the stoutest brakes, and the loudest exhaust system. It suits you best if you want the MINI’s personality turned up and care most about driving engagement.

The safety package is limited, though, so you should pay close attention to the available Driver Assistance Package if you want adaptive cruise control, Parking Assistant, and front parking sensors.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 MINI Cooper?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 433 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,550, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 MINI Cooper's resale value?

The current average of $16,131 sits slightly below last year's $17,223.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive environment if prices continue to ease. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average.

The car’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, especially among shoppers who want style and driving fun in a small package. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 MINI Cooper safe?

The 2019 MINI Cooper was a Top Safety Pick in 2018, although it lost that rating when the IIHS updated its requirements for the claim in 2019. It earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, in part due to a three-star rating for rear seat occupant protection in a side-impact collision.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety setup includes eight airbags, a reversing camera, and Active Driving Assistant, which brings forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, and a speed-limit information system. Adaptive cruise control is available with the Driver Assistance Package, which also adds Parking Assistant and front parking sensors.

The main caveats are the missing blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centering assist. That makes careful lane changes and parking awareness especially important for you.

Should I buy a 2019 MINI Cooper or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The John Cooper Works trim is highlighted as the best fit for the car’s sporty mission.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $18,813, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,131 average.
• It adds a new electric powertrain option.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the more appealing buy because prices are softer and inventory is available. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer direction and the added electric option, the 2020 is the better secondary path.

How does the 2019 MINI Cooper compare to the 2019 Honda Civic?

Our experts score the 2019 MINI Cooper 6.3/10 and the 2019 Honda Civic 7.8/10. The MINI is the more personality-driven choice, with stronger style and a more playful driving feel. The Civic is the more practical all-around pick, with more listings, a lower starting price, and a stronger expert score.

If you care most about fun and individuality, the MINI makes sense. If you want broader usefulness and a more conventional value proposition, the Civic is the safer bet.
