Overview

In Lincoln’s SUV lineup, the MKT fits between the midsize MKX and the gargantuan full-size Navigator. The MKT features minimal changes for 2019. It still includes the same basic design and distinctive styling that it had when introduced in 2010. Lincoln dropped the 303-horsepower V6, previously the base engine. The optional twin-turbo V6 now comes standard, making it the only available engine. All-wheel drive (AWD) now also comes standard across the range. Trims include a base model and the MKT Reserve. Lincoln builds the MKT on Ford’s D4 platform, making its underpinnings similar to the Ford Flex. The Flex is like the MKT, but it comes with less in the way of luxury and a lower price tag.
The twin-turbo V6 that comes in all MKTs is a 365-horsepower unit that drives all four wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. The V6 delivers more than enough power and the exhaust note is sporty for an SUV with a Lincoln badge. But at 15 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 17 combined, the V6 with AWD reacts more like a thirsty V8. Shoppers interested in the MKT with FWD will see returns of 16 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 19 combined.
The main reason people part with the extra money for a Lincoln MKT over a more homely Ford Flex comes down to what’s inside. While not the freshest design in the luxury SUV market, the interior offers a premium space with plenty of leather and wood. There are tempting convenience features as well: a heated steering wheel, three-zone automatic climate control, a THX II stereo, a panoramic glass roof, and the SYNC 3 infotainment system all come standard. Options include heated and ventilated captain’s chairs, a refrigerated console, and a rear seat entertainment system. The MKT Reserve model adds active safety features and includes features like power-adjustable pedals, a 110-volt power outlet, rear sunshades, and remote start.
The MKT will seat seven people comfortably with the standard second-row bench seat; captain’s chairs are optional. With all the seats up, there is 17.9 cubic feet of cargo space available. Fold the third row, and that grows to 39.6 cubic feet. With all the seats down, the MKT will pack in 75.9 cubic feet of stuff.
The MKT hasn’t gone through the gamut of crash tests. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) conducted a rollover test on the MKT; it received a four-star rating. Safety features like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors come standard. Stepping up to the Reserve model adds features like adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, assisted pre-collision braking, active park assist, and lane-keep assist.
While not the most beautiful luxury SUV on the market, nor the freshest, the Lincoln MKT offers a plush and luxurious interior, a well-rated infotainment system, and a competitive price. For those who don’t need the sheer mass of a Navigator and don’t want the high maintenance costs of some of the higher-price European offerings, the MKT is a good alternative.

Weve owned the car for only two days but so far we really like it. So many features to learn, we are still playing with it. Very nice ride and lots of power. I think the MKT has been a well kept secret for whatever reason. I think its a great value and so far were happy we bought one.

Bought a 2013 MKT in 2017 at 39k miles, was able to get an extended warranty through Lincoln plus Lincoln care for months.. LOVE LOVE LOVE this car! It handles beautifully, holds the road, absorbs all the bumps, luxury long-distance ride like those huge old Mercurys, AC will freeze everyone out, heated seats and steering wheel are most appreciated, tons of cargo space, dvd players on seat backs to amuse rear passengers, all the bells and whistles are lovely. The miles per gallon deficiencies are made up for by everything else you get. I even use it like a truck, hauling things up to 5k pounds with no issues. My only complaint is the placement of the 2-directional ! folding rear seats controls next to lift gate control. Too easy to push the wrong button . And the complexity of the on-screen adjustments for everything, but that seems to be all new cars now. Heartbroken that they were discontinued after 2019.

Love this vehicle. The 2019s are all Reserve. They are all 365hp ecoboost. Lots of luxury for under 25k

The AWD models feel great as they drive smaller then they are. It is a spacious vehicle with amazing features. In my opinion they are a phenomenal suv.
