Is the 2019 Kia Sportage a good car?

Is the 2019 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on comfort and everyday usability. That kind of response suggests you can count on the Sportage to deliver a familiar, low-stress used-SUV experience if the specific vehicle has been maintained well.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about the condition of the individual vehicle you choose.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Kia Sportage?

At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from ones with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus your condition check on bodywork, alignment, cabin wear, and any signs that the vehicle may have been repaired after an incident.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Kia Sportage?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,550 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,870, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $12,875 sits slightly below last year's $13,930.

That softer pricing suggests the Sportage has already moved through a meaningful part of its depreciation curve, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the lower end of the range, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it comes time to sell. The model’s broad appeal and comfortable driving character can also help keep demand steady among used shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want a used Sportage with strong owner satisfaction and a softer price than last year. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is worth comparing nearby model years and focusing on the cleanest, best-priced listing rather than the year alone.
