Used 2017 Kia Sportage for Sale nearAlbuquerque, NM

How much does the 2017 Kia Sportage cost?

Prices have softened 2.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

With 1,034 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Kia Sportage earns a 4.82/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the comfort, handling, and feature content, including the panoramic sunroof and safety technology. They also call out the value and reliability compared with other brands, which fits a compact crossover that aims to be practical without feeling plain. In use, that makes it a strong fit if you want a small SUV with a more distinctive personality, useful cargo space, and a comfortable cabin.

It also lands well if you want a crossover that feels more engaging than basic transportation, thanks to its sporty ride and smooth handling. Good and great deals make up 30.0% of the market, so there’s still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, good value, and a sense that the Sportage compares favorably with other brands over time. That lines up with the expert notes about solid value and the model’s broad appeal as a practical, enjoyable crossover. The long warranty coverage also supports the ownership case, especially if you’re looking at a used example that was maintained on schedule.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is buying a neglected example, so service records and condition matter more than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Kia Sportage?

At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the safety and tech features work as expected. Because this model can be found in a wide range of conditions, the best buys are the ones with clean records and clear maintenance history.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the entry point, while the EX adds more convenience and tech, and the SX Turbo brings the strongest performance and the most upscale equipment. The base model is the one most likely to leave you wanting more if you care about advanced safety or richer infotainment.
• Powertrain: The LX and EX use a 2-liter four-cylinder with 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, while the SX Turbo uses a turbocharged 2-liter four with 240 horsepower in front-wheel-drive form and 237 horsepower with all-wheel drive. The base engine is the efficiency-first choice, but the turbo is the one that makes the Sportage feel genuinely quick.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front and side impact airbags, traction control, a reversing camera, LATCH child-seat anchors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and forward-collision warning and avoidance. The base model cannot get the high-tech safety features, and adaptive cruise control is not available at all.
• Infotainment: The base screen is 5 inches, with 7- and 8-inch touchscreens available. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are optional on the LX and standard on the EX and SX Turbo, and UVO eServices adds connected features such as roadside assistance and parking-location reminders.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine returns 23 mpg city, 30 highway, and 26 combined with front-wheel drive, or 21 city, 25 highway, and 22 combined with all-wheel drive. The turbo gets 21 city, 26 highway, and 23 combined with front-wheel drive, or 20 city, 23 highway, and 21 combined with all-wheel drive.

Which 2017 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2017 Kia Sportage is offered in 3 trim levels: LX, EX, SX Turbo.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value play if you want the Sportage’s styling, comfort, and core utility at the lowest entry point. It gives you the basics, but it’s also the trim most likely to feel stripped if you want advanced safety or richer infotainment.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more of the features that make the Sportage feel modern, including standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If you want a balanced mix of equipment and price, this is the one to target first.
• SX Turbo: This is the trim to buy if you want the strongest acceleration and the most fully loaded experience. It pairs the turbocharged engine with the most premium feel in the lineup, but you should expect to pay more for that extra performance and equipment.

The safety tech is not available on the base model, so if driver-assistance features matter to you, shop above the LX.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Kia Sportage?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,034 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.04% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,095, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $11,217 sits slightly below last year's $11,451.

That tells you the market has eased a bit, which can be good news if you’re buying now but a sign that sellers may need to price competitively later. If you own one, the softer trend suggests you should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market appreciation. Well-kept examples with desirable features should still draw interest, but rougher ones may need sharper pricing to move.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Kia Sportage safe?

The 2017 Kia Sportage is an IIHS 2017 Top Safety Pick. It earns the best score of Good in all phases of crash testing, and its crash-avoidance tech earns the best score of Superior. However, it earns a middling score of Acceptable for LATCH ease of use and the worst score of Poor for headlight testing. It earns a 5-star overall crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sportage includes front and side impact airbags, traction control, a reversing camera, LATCH child-seat anchors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and forward-collision warning and avoidance. The catch is that you can’t get adaptive cruise control at all, and the base model can’t be equipped with the higher-tech safety features.

Should I buy a 2017 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the expert review: it combines bold styling, a sporty ride, and solid value.

The bottom line: The 2017 Sportage makes sense if you want a used compact crossover with strong owner satisfaction, good safety credentials, and a market that still offers room to shop. If you’re price-sensitive, the softened pricing and decent inventory make this a good year to target; if you want the newest-feeling tech or a different balance of space and efficiency, it’s worth comparing nearby model years before you decide.
