How much does the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 9.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,751 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Generally — the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.39/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, spacious interior, and extensive features. They also point to strong value and performance compared with competitors, which fits an SUV that is meant to work well both on the road and off it. The Grand Cherokee’s broad appeal comes from that everyday usability paired with capability.

With 34.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.39/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights a smooth ride, spacious interior, and extensive features, and it also points to value and performance that compare well with competitors. The expert evaluation adds that the Grand Cherokee is built to handle both pavement and off-pavement use, which supports the case for durability in regular ownership. The cost-effectiveness notes also emphasize that value is strongest when you choose the right version for your needs.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that satisfaction can be offset by condition-specific issues, so a careful inspection matters more than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 64.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition, prior damage, and how well the vehicle’s equipment and wear match the asking price. Because this model can be configured very differently from one trim to another, it pays to verify exactly what you’re getting.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Laredo starts the lineup with a 7-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add Jeep’s more sophisticated Uconnect system, better graphics, faster response, and more premium equipment. The test vehicle’s Limited X also added unique styling touches, a 9-speaker Alpine audio system, and the Advanced Active Safety Group, showing how much equipment can vary by trim.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 3.6-liter V6 with 295 horsepower and an 8-speed automatic. You can also find a 5.7-liter V8, a 6.4-liter V8 in the SRT, and a 707-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V8 in the Trackhawk. The available 4WD systems and terrain-focused hardware are a major part of the Grand Cherokee’s appeal.
• Safety package: The Advanced Active Safety Group adds parking assist, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and rain-sensing wipers. Standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also part of the package, but the safety story varies by trim and drivetrain.
• Infotainment: The Laredo gets a 7-inch display, while other trims use Jeep’s updated Uconnect system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, voice recognition, and navigation. Higher trims can also bring upgraded audio systems, including a 19-speaker Harman Kardon setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returns a combined 21 mpg, and the expert evaluation notes that 4WD can reduce city and highway figures by 1 mpg each.

Which 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 12 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Trailhawk, Summit, Trackhawk, Limited X, Laredo E, X Packages, All-Weather Trail Rated Package, Limited, SRT, and Summit with 4WD.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, and it gives you the basic Grand Cherokee experience with the 7-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting point, but you’ll want to check whether the equipment level is enough for your needs.
• Limited X: This is the best-value trim. It was singled out as the version that best represents where value, style, equipment, and capability intersect, and it adds distinctive styling, upgraded interior touches, and useful equipment without jumping into luxury or performance pricing.
• Summit: This is the upscale choice if you want a more premium Grand Cherokee with luxury-oriented equipment and a higher-end feel.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if you want the more off-road-focused version, since it is explicitly positioned around improved off-roading capability.
• SRT / Trackhawk: These are the performance-focused choices, with major power and braking upgrades. The Trackhawk is the extreme option, while the SRT is the more accessible high-performance route.

The safety-package-equipped versions are worth prioritizing if you want the most complete driver-assistance setup, since those features are not uniformly standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,751 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.96% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,090, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $18,090 sits slightly below last year's $20,092.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well the market holds up. If prices remain under pressure, a seller may need to be more flexible to move a used Grand Cherokee quickly. Well-equipped examples in strong condition should still draw attention, especially when they offer the capability and features shoppers expect from this model.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.39/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a Marginal rating from IIHS for small-overlap frontal-impact protection for the driver and a Poor rating for the front passenger, and it also receives a three-star rollover resistance rating from NHTSA for rear-drive versions.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Grand Cherokee does include modern driver-assistance technology, with standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Available or package-based features include semi-autonomous parking assistance, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and rain-sensing wipers. The main caveat is that its crash-test performance is a real weakness, so safety-conscious buyers should pay close attention to trim, drivetrain, and equipment.

Should I buy a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.39/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its broad capability, strong everyday usability, and especially strong technology score.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,234, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $18,090 average.
• It gets a refreshed sense of relevance from a clearer focus on being an appealing, if flawed, choice in the segment.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for the next model year, the 2020 is the secondary path, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2019’s stronger market position.
