How much does the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 9.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,733 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy set of options to compare.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Generally — the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners repeatedly praise its smooth ride, spacious interior, and extensive features, and they also point to strong value and performance compared with competitors. The overview frames it as a rare SUV that feels at home both on the road and off it, which fits the way shoppers tend to use it: daily driving, family hauling, and occasional capability-focused trips. Even so, some owners note pricing concerns and missing features they expected at the money.

With 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as dependable in the sense that it delivers a smooth ride, strong value, and the kind of feature-rich experience they can count on over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that it is a multi-talented SUV that can handle everyday driving while still being ready for more demanding use. That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition, because long-term ownership risk rises when a vehicle has been used hard or poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and wear match the mileage and asking price. If you’re comparing multiple listings, give extra weight to the ones with clean records and consistent maintenance.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Laredo starts the lineup with a 7-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add more upscale materials, more equipment, and in some cases more capability. The Limited X stands out as the value-oriented sweet spot because it blends style, equipment, and capability better than the cheaper trims.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 3.6-liter V6 with 295 horsepower and an 8-speed automatic. Higher-output V8 options are available in upper trims if you want more power.
• Safety package: Standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is included, and the Advanced Active Safety Group adds parking assist, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and rain-sensing wipers. Some of these features are package-dependent rather than universal.
• Infotainment: The Laredo gets a 7-inch touchscreen, while other trims add Uconnect with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, voice recognition, and navigation. Higher trims can also bring upgraded audio systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returns 21 mpg combined, and the added weight and driveline friction of 4WD reduce city and highway figures by 1 mpg each.

Which 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 12 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Trailhawk, Summit, Trackhawk, Limited X, Laredo E, Laredo X, All-Weather Trail Rated Package, Limited, SRT, and Summit with 4WD.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, and it gives you the basics, including the 7-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price, but it is the least compelling choice if you care about the Grand Cherokee’s richer feature set.
• Limited X: This is the best-value trim. It adds a more upscale look and feel, stronger equipment content, and the kind of balance that makes the Grand Cherokee most convincing for shoppers who want style, value, and capability in one package.
• Summit: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with premium materials and a more upscale presentation. It suits you if comfort and refinement matter more than keeping the price in check.
• Trailhawk: This is the trim to choose if you want the most off-road-focused character in the lineup. It is the right fit if your priorities lean toward capability rather than everyday value.
• Trackhawk: This is the extreme performance model, with outrageous power and a price to match. It is for buyers who want the most dramatic version of the Grand Cherokee, not the most practical one.

The Advanced Active Safety Group adds a strong set of driver-assistance features, but it is not standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,733 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,839, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $17,839 sits slightly below last year's $19,793.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently today but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that value retention depends heavily on condition, equipment, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than rougher, higher-mileage listings.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a Marginal rating from IIHS for small-overlap frontal-impact protection for the driver and a Poor rating for the front passenger, and it also has a three-star rollover resistance rating from the federal government.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is included, and the available Advanced Active Safety Group adds parking assist, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and rain-sensing wipers. The safety picture is weakened by the crash-test results, so you should treat this as a vehicle where active safety tech helps, but does not erase the underlying collision-performance concerns.

Should I buy a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It balances everyday usability with off-road capability and strong feature content.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $19,920, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,839 average.
• It remains appealing but is still in its tenth year without a major redesign.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the stronger buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you can stretch for a newer model and want to pay more for a slightly updated take, the 2020 is the secondary path.
