What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Civic Type R?

At 58.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether the car has had any accidents, modifications, or incomplete maintenance. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on signs of hard use, especially if the car has been driven aggressively or tracked. Pay close attention to overall condition, because this model’s enthusiast appeal can make clean, unmodified examples more valuable.

What is the 2019 Honda Civic Type R's resale value?

The current average of $34,060 sits slightly below last year's $34,859.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now. For a future seller, it also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and whether the car has been modified or kept stock. Clean examples with strong documentation should hold up better than cars with uncertain histories.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Honda Civic Type R or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want the Civic Type R’s core performance and everyday usability with a market that is a bit softer than last year. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on the lower end of the range and prioritize clean, well-documented examples over the cheapest listing you can find.
