How much does the 2019 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 4.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,037 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Honda Civic earns a 4.71/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and impressive safety features, and they also like its stylish appearance and good fuel economy. In use-case terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want an everyday compact car that still feels more upscale and rewarding to drive than the average commuter.

With 31.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, and the expert evaluation reinforces that with language about smoothness, refinement, and a car that won’t put off buyers who just want a safe, comfortable, and reliable commute. The Civic’s balanced chassis and strong brakes also support the sense that it’s built to be counted on over time.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core formula and more about finding a well-kept example with consistent maintenance and no hidden wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Civic?

At 50.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks bodywork, alignment, brakes, tires, and signs of uneven wear. Because this model year has a broad mix of trims and equipment, it also pays to verify that the specific car you’re considering has the features you expect and that they all work properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic’s trim spread includes a wide range of equipment and styling, from simpler versions to Touring models with LED headlights, navigation, and the top-tier stereo. Base trims are more basic, so you should compare feature content carefully if you want the best value.
• Powertrain: LX and Sport sedans and coupes use a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, while EX and above trims use a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-4 with 174 hp and 162 lb-ft. The hatchback uses the turbo engine exclusively, and the CVT is available on several trims.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R. It includes forward-collision alert with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The system includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Honda’s Garmin-based navigation is a standout for its graphics and voice input. LaneWatch is offered on certain trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo engine is described as quicker to respond and better in mid-range acceleration than the base 2.0-liter, and the CVT is praised for avoiding the usual strained feel some rivals have.

Which 2019 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2019 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, Si, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Civic’s core value and driving feel at the lowest price. It’s the trim to consider if you care most about keeping costs down and still want the Civic’s basic strengths.
• Sport: This trim adds more visual flair, including a center-mounted exhaust and some of the exterior flash of the performance-oriented Si. It’s a good pick if you want a little more style without jumping to a much pricier model.
• EX: CarGurus recommends the EX trim, and that recommendation makes sense because it brings the turbo engine, moonroof, power driver’s seat, and touchscreen. This is the best-value choice for most shoppers.
• Si: Choose this if you want the strongest enthusiast character, since it gets the boosted 1.5-liter engine and a stick shift. It’s the trim for drivers who care most about performance.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped Civic here, with LED headlights, navigation, and the top-tier stereo. It suits you if you want the most premium version of the lineup.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Civic?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, compare, and wait for the right listing.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,037 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.74% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 50.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,143, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $17,392 sits slightly below last year's $18,258.

That decline suggests the Civic has softened in the used market, which can be good news if you’re buying now but a caution sign if you’re planning to resell soon. If you own one, the current pricing trend means you should expect a more competitive resale environment than last year.

Even so, the Civic’s broad appeal, strong reputation, and steady demand help support future value better than many small cars. Well-equipped, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than less desirable compact alternatives.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic safe?

The 2019 Honda Civic earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA categories, with the exception of four stars for the coupe's passenger-side frontal crash rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R. It includes forward-collision alert with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. That makes the Civic especially appealing if you want a compact car with a strong standard safety package.

One caveat is that the coupe’s passenger-side frontal crash result is lower than the rest of the NHTSA results, so coupe shoppers should pay extra attention to that detail.

Should I buy a 2019 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 keeps the Civic’s winning formula of style, value, and performance with only minor tweaks.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $18,684, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,392 average.
• Minor design tweaks, more standard safety and convenience features, and more manual transmissions are the standout changes.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it delivers the Civic’s core strengths at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly updated package with more standard features, the 2020 is the better next step.
