Used 2019 GMC Terrain for Sale near Phoenix, AZ
GMC introduced a second-generation version of its compact Terrain crossover for 2018, with a more-mature form of the brand’s squared-off, chiseled themes. Fresh off the heels of the redesign, the 2019 model sees minor updates.
The Terrain is equipped with one of three powertrains. Standard is a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. It delivers an estimated 26 miles per gallon city and 30 highway. Buyers who need more power can go for the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine, which comes with an impressive 252 hp and 260 lb ft and is estimated to return fuel economy numbers of 21 and 28. For the ultimate in range and efficiency, there’s also a 1.6-liter turbocharged diesel inline 4-cylinder engine, good for 137 hp and 240 lb ft, as well as 28 and 39 miles per gallon in the city and on the highway, respectively. The gasoline engines get a 9-speed automatic, while the diesel makes do with a 6-speed automatic. All three engines come with standard front-wheel drive (FWD), while all-wheel drive (AWD) is an extra-cost item. There’s also a standard Traction Select system, allowing owners to dial in settings for specific types of terrain.
GMC offers the Terrain in four trims: SL, SLE, SLT, and Denali. The SL trim kicks things off the 1.5-liter engine and FWD, 17-inch wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless access and start, a passenger seat that folds flat, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a security alarm, a 6-speaker audio system, a USB port, and a USB type-C port.
The SLE trim offers the same content as the SL, but unlocks several optional add-ons. It can be equipped with any of the three gasoline engines in FWD or AWD configurations. The Driver Convenience package adds an 8-way power driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment, heated driver and front passenger seats, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and roof-mounted side rails. Infotainment Package I includes a larger 8-inch infotainment system with navigation, a 120-volt power outlet, an SD card reader, and a color instrument panel LCD. Opt for the diesel engine and you’ll get heated front seats, a power programmable liftgate, and all of the equipment from Driver Convenience Package as standard equipment.
The SLT trim allows any of the three engines with FWD or AWD and comes with 18-inch machined and painted aluminum wheels, leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, the larger 8-inch infotainment system, a color instrument panel LCD, remote start, and roof-mounted side rails. The Preferred Package tacks on memory settings, a 6-way power passenger’s seat, a hands-free programmable liftgate, additional USB ports, a heated steering wheel, and a garage door opener. Infotainment Package II adds navigation, HD radio, and a Bose 7-speaker audio system. The SLT trim with the diesel engine gets the Preferred Package content standard.
Finally, the Denali trim comes with just the 2.0-liter engine; shoppers can choose between FWD or AWD. The Denali trim also comes with unique 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, a hands-free programmable liftgate, navigation, additional USB ports, a heated steering wheel, and a Bose 7-speaker audio system. The optional Comfort Package brings wireless phone charging, heated and cooled front seats, and heated rear seats.
For 2019, SLE and SLT trims are both available in Black Edition, which bundles 19-inch gloss black wheels and black exterior trim. By contrast, the new Chrome Package for the SLT trim comes with 19-inch machined wheels, a unique chrome grille, chrome mirror caps, and chrome surrounds for the door handles. There’s also a new color on all trims, Smokey Quartz Metallic.
As far as safety, six airbags and a reversing camera come standard on every Terrain. GMC also includes a Rear Seat Reminder, to remind parents to make sure their children aren’t left in the car. Options-wise, Driver Alert Package I is available on SLE and SLT trims and comes standard on the Denali; it includes lane-change alert, blind-spot monitoring, rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and safety alert driver’s seat, which provides haptic feedback to the driver. Driver Alert Package II is available only on SLT and Denali, which includes forward-collision alert, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, a following-distance indicator, adaptive cruise control, front pedestrian detection with braking, and automatic high beams. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) tested the Terrain last year, where it received perfect crash scores and a top rating for crash avoidance with the optional equipment.
Moving into its second model year, the Terrain’s unusual styling still looks fresh and modern. And with plenty of modern features and comfort, it should remain a competitive offering for some time.
