CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Ford Fusion

Summary
With 1,837 currently listed for sale and an average price of $12,604, 28.8% of 2019 Ford Fusions for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Ford Fusion 4.71 / 5 stars.
64.5% of 2019 Fusion models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Fusion stands out as a midsize sedan that blends sharp styling, strong road manners, and a generous feature set. Ford had already given the car significant updates by 2019, and that matters because this version could be equipped with a wide variety of active safety features, including lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking. It also benefits from the Fusion’s roomy packaging, with 38.3 inches of rear legroom and a 16 cubic-foot trunk, making it a practical choice for buyers who want everyday usability without giving up a more polished look.
What makes the 2019 Ford Fusion especially appealing is how broad its lineup is. The available engines range from the 175-horsepower 2.5-liter Duratec to turbocharged options, and the hybrid models use a 2.0-liter Duratec four with an electric motor for up to 188 hp. Ford also added SYNC 3 in 2017, bringing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the best-equipped versions are the 2019 and 2020 models, which have some of the driver aids standard. On the road, the Fusion is described as sure-footed and capable-handling, and the gas-only 1.5-liter models return the best economy among the gas engines, up to 27 mpg combined.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The car is not as deluxe as its price tag suggests, and non-hybrid versions lag rivals in MPG. Still, for shoppers who want a comfortable, good-looking sedan with useful technology and a reputation for solid driving dynamics, the 2019 Ford Fusion remains an attractive used-car pick.

2019 Fusion replaced a 2006 Fusion for my daughter. It was a great value for her budget. It has all the safety features like blind spot monitoring, back up camera and warning sensors. We compared it to a Malibu, but the Fusion was a better price with lower miles.

Is the 2019 Ford Fusion a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Ford Fusion earns a 4.71/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its comfort, stylish looks, and the amount of features you get for the price. Many also like the strong performance, especially in higher trims, while the roomy cabin and practical everyday usability make it a sensible fit if you want a midsize sedan with a polished feel. With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers highlighting comfort and a car they feel good about living with over time. That said, some shoppers note design flaws and interior cosmetic issues, so condition matters when you evaluate a used example. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a car with neglected wear or unresolved cosmetic and feature-related issues.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Fusion?
At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, including signs of cosmetic wear, because some owners mention interior cosmetic issues.

If you find a listing below $12,599, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $12,599 sits slightly below last year's $13,775.
That price movement suggests the model has softened, which can limit how much value you recover if you sell soon after buying. On the other hand, a lower entry price can help you reduce depreciation exposure if you buy well. If you choose a clean, well-kept example, you may be better positioned than a buyer who pays closer to the top of the range.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.53% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $11,804, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $12,599 average.
- It offers exceptional lineup variety.
The bottom line: Choose the 2019 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and deal availability. If you're especially price-sensitive, the 2018 is the better path because it undercuts the current year while still giving you the Fusion's broad appeal.
