Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Fusion Energi stands out as a plug-in hybrid that Ford used to keep the Fusion relevant as it headed toward the end of its run. For 2019, it gets a mild facelift, and Ford also gave it fresh safety features to help it compete more directly with other plug-in hybrids. The Energi version is especially notable because Ford increased battery capacity from 7.6 kWh to 9.0 kWh, using more energy-dense chemistry, and that change raised the stated electric range from 21 to 25 miles.
The biggest update for this model year is Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assistance tech, which comes standard across the range. That package adds blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, and a reversing camera. Buyers looking for a comfortable, quiet plug-in hybrid may also appreciate the Fusion Energi’s decent gas mileage and its handling, though some owners note that trunk space is reduced by the battery and that the electric range does not always match expectations.
This analysis is based on CarGurus' proprietary market data from September 7, 2026, CarGurus experts' opinions, and generative AI.

The car gets rated gas mileage maybe a little bit better and does what its supposed to do. It has a quiet confident ride. It has a small trunk due to the battery being in it, but surprisingly you can still pack a fair amount of luggage in it. A overall good hybrid plug-in sedan

We love the Fusion. It is very comfortable and fun to drive.

Upgraded from a base trim Honda Civic. Love the heated, air conditioned, and leather seats and the plug in hybrid drivetrain. I hear Ford licensed Toyotas prime drivetrain for this. The trunk is 40% battery, and it doesnt always deliver the displayed electric range, but now I fuel up once a month instead of once a week.

How much does the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,819 |
| Year-Round Low | $14,682 |
| Year-Round High | $16,379 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $16,491 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −4.07% |
Prices have softened 4.07% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 82 listings available, which suggests a modest but workable amount of inventory for shoppers.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi a good car?
Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.
Drivers consistently praise its comfort, quiet ride, decent gas mileage, handling, and safety features. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a comfortable plug-in hybrid that feels easy to live with and still delivers useful efficiency. The market also shows 32.9% of listings as good or great deals, which adds to the appeal if you find the right example.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a reliable, dependable, and generally trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers also highlighting its comfort and quietness. The expert evaluation reinforces that it can be a car you can count on for everyday use, especially if you value a calm, efficient commute. The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is making sure the battery-related range and cargo compromises still work for your needs.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Fusion Energi?
At 69.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and any signs of prior repair. Because this model’s battery packaging reduces trunk space, you should also make sure the cargo area still meets your needs in real-world use. If possible, confirm that the electric range and charging behavior feel consistent with what you expect from a plug-in hybrid.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Titanium trim is the only version, and it brings a more upscale equipment set than the base Fusion, including heated and ventilated front power seats, adaptive cruise, keyless entry and ignition with remote start, ambient lighting, automatic wipers, and a 12-speaker Sony stereo. It suits you best if you want a fully equipped plug-in hybrid rather than a stripped-down commuter.
- Powertrain: The plug-in hybrid setup uses a larger battery this year, increasing stated electric range from 21 to 25 miles. The tradeoff is that real-world electric range may fall short of expectations, especially in hilly driving.
- Safety package: Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, and a reversing camera. One caveat is that lane-keep cannot be disabled.
- Infotainment: You get the Sync 3 interface, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. The system can lag at times, but the smartphone integration gives you a better alternative to the native navigation.
- Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation notes more than 600 miles of total range, but it does not provide an MPG or MPGe figure.
Which 2019 Ford Fusion Energi trim should I buy?
The 2019 Ford Fusion Energi is offered in 1 trim level: Titanium.
Here's the short version:
The Titanium is the only choice, so your decision is really whether the equipment and plug-in efficiency are worth the compromises in trunk space and overall value. It gives you the full standard safety suite, strong tech content, and a well-equipped cabin, which makes it the obvious pick if you want this model year. The safety package is standard across the range, so there’s no lower trim to compare against.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Fusion Energi?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 82 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.07% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 69.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,682, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi's resale value?
The current average of $15,819 sits slightly below last year's $16,491.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you may be able to soften the impact of future depreciation. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi safe?
The 2019 Ford Fusion Energi earns five-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with a three-star rating in the front-passenger test and a four-star rating for rollover. It also earns a Top Safety Pick from IIHS, though the headlights received a Poor rating and child-seat anchor ease of use received a Marginal rating.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite is standard and includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, and a reversing camera. One trim-level note worth remembering is that lane-keep cannot be disabled. The main caveat for you is that the braking performance is not class-leading, so you should pay attention to stopping feel during a test drive.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Fusion Energi or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 69.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.07% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2019 model year stands out for its larger battery, longer stated electric range, and standard Co-Pilot360 safety tech.
The bottom line: If you want this plug-in hybrid, the 2019 is the year to target because it brings the updated battery, standard safety tech, and strong owner satisfaction. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on the best-priced listings and verify history carefully, since accident-free examples are not the majority.
