Both highly capable and highly configurable, the Ford F-450 Super Duty is a large hauler for the heaviest of heavy-duty jobs. For 2019, changes are limited to a new Bang & Olufsen optional stereo, regular cab body style availability for lower-tier XL and XLT trims, and a Sport Package for the Lariat trim with a spray-in bedliner and black trim. Trims include XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. Body styles include regular cab or crew cab. The F-450 Super Duty is available with two engines: a 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V8 and a 6.2-liter gas-powered V8. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, the diesel engine makes 450 horsepower and 935 pound-feet of torque driving the rear wheels, although four-wheel drive (4WD) is an option. The gas engine makes 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft. Properly equipped, an F-450 can tow up to 35,000 pounds. The interior of the F-450 can range from utilitarian to downright luxurious. The base XL trim gets vinyl upholstery and but does still come with marker lights for the roof, towing mirrors, and handy storage bins. Stepping up to the XLT trim adds chrome for the exterior, plus power heated mirrors, running boards, cloth seats, locking storage under the seats, and a basic Ford SYNC infotainment system. The mid-range F-450 Lariat trim gets fog lights, a power rear window, dual-zone automatic climate control, power leather seats, power adjustable pedals, Sync 3, power outlets, and a new 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo. The King Ranch trim gets its usual western-themed leather seating along with features like keyless ignition, heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, and a navigation system. The Platinum trim gets adaptive steering as well as a few active safety features, while range-topping Limited trims get power running boards, illuminated scuff plates on the doors, a panoramic sunroof, two-tone leather upholstery, and even more active safety features like a trailer camera system standard. The F-450 hasn't been crash-tested, but available safety features that will help drivers avoid having a crash in the first place but also make pulling a large trailer with a giant pickup a less intimidating process. The Platinum trim comes with blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alerts, while Limited trims come with a surround-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, and lane-departure warning as well as a trailer tire-pressure-monitoring system. The Limited trim also comes with a 7-camera system for towing that places a separate reversing camera on the trailer itself. The F-450 Super Duty can haul more stuff than most people even own, and in the higher trim levels will wrap occupants in leather-clad comfort that rivals many proper luxury cars while doing it.
