CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Ford Edge
overall

Summary
With 110 currently listed for sale and an average price of $14,599, 11.8% of 2019 Ford Edge listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Ford Edge 4.77 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
80.9% of 2019 Ford Edge listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Edge stands out as a midsize, two-row SUV that helped define the family-crossover formula. It may feel dated in some respects, but it still delivers the backseat legroom and cargo space many buyers want. That combination makes it appealing for shoppers who need everyday practicality without giving up the roominess that matters most in a family vehicle.
Ford also offers the 2019 Edge with an ST trim, adding performance to the Edge’s otherwise utilitarian character. That gives the model a broader appeal than a typical family hauler, since it aims to balance commuting and cargo duty with a more athletic driving experience. At the same time, the available owner feedback points to a mixed picture: reviewers praise its performance, comfort, and features, but some also mention sluggish acceleration and missing conveniences such as automatic side mirrors.

Excellent driver, exceptional roominess front AND rear seat. Tons more space behind the second row than my Lincoln MKC (my trade in). I’m blown away that this Ford Edge is more quiet and rides better than the smaller MKC. Disappointments are no power lift gate, no garage door opener feature. Very comfortable leather seats, and the SEL comes standard with many safety features. So far very satisfied.

How much does the 2019 Ford Edge cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $14,972 |
| Year-Round Low | $14,972 |
| Year-Round High | $16,422 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $16,428 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.87% |
Prices have softened 8.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,840 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Ford Edge earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10. Owners consistently praise its performance, comfort, and features, and they also call out the spacious interior and strong power. For you, that means it fits especially well if you want a roomy two-row SUV for family duty and long trips, with enough capability to make commuting feel less ordinary. The market also shows 31.0% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Reviewers describe it as strong on performance, comfort, and features, and they also highlight the spacious interior and strong power, which supports the idea that it can be a dependable daily driver for family use. The driving notes also say the engine gets the job done and won’t let you down, which reinforces confidence in everyday operation. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about finding a well-kept example that avoids the model’s dated-feeling cabin and any neglected maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Edge?
At 74.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition details that matter in a family SUV: interior wear, feature operation, and evidence of past bodywork or repairs. Because the Edge’s appeal depends heavily on comfort, space, and equipment, you want to make sure the example you choose still delivers those strengths cleanly.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, and rain-sensing wipers, while the SEL adds black roof rails, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Titanium adds 19-inch alloy wheels and makes leather upholstery, wireless charging, and remote start standard, while the ST adds blacked-out styling, 20-inch wheels, an upgraded exhaust, leather seating, and ambient lighting. The SEL is the best-value choice if you want a more complete feature set without stepping all the way up to the pricier trims.
- Powertrain: Non-ST trims use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic and front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The ST uses a 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 with 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, also paired with an 8-speed automatic and AWD.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on trims above the SE and adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering.
- Infotainment: The base system uses a 4.2-inch non-touchscreen with USB, WiFi hotspot, streaming music, Bluetooth, and voice recognition. An 8-inch Sync 3 system is available on the SEL and standard on the Titanium and ST, and it adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration.
- Fuel efficiency: The base 2.0-liter with front-wheel drive returns 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined. The ST returns 19/26/21.
Which 2019 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2019 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the entry point, but its base infotainment setup is the weakest part of the lineup, so it makes the most sense only if you’re focused on price and can live with the simpler tech.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim because it adds a much more useful mix of comfort and convenience features, and it can be equipped with the available 8-inch Sync 3 system and useful packages.
- Titanium: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel, standard leather, remote start, wireless charging, and the premium audio upgrade.
- ST: This is the performance choice, with the 335-horsepower V6, AWD, sportier styling, and the most aggressive character in the lineup.
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite is standard, and Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on trims above the SE.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Edge?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,840 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.87% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 74.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,972, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $14,972 sits slightly below last year's $16,428.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. The Edge’s broad appeal as a roomy two-row SUV should still help it attract shoppers, but the softer pricing trend means future sellers may need to stay competitive.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge safe?
The 2019 Ford Edge earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on trims above the SE and adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering. That gives you a strong standard safety foundation, with extra driver-assistance capability available if you move up from the base trim.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 74.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.87% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Ford gives the 2019 Edge an ST trim, adding performance to its family-SUV formula.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $16,513, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $14,972 average.
- It adds more standard tech and safety while keeping the same practical two-row layout.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the stronger buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year with a slightly fresher feature set, the 2020 is the cleaner alternative.
How does the 2019 Ford Edge compare to the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox?
Our experts score the 2019 Ford Edge 7.3/10 and the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox 7.2/10. The Edge brings more power, a stronger performance option, and a higher safety score, while the Equinox counters with a lower starting price and better fuel economy. If you want more room, more punch, and a more upscale available trim range, the Edge is the stronger pick. If your priority is lower running costs and a lower entry price, the Equinox makes more sense.
