CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Ford Edge
overall

Summary
With 156 currently listed for sale near Birmingham, AL and an average price of $14,537.00, 28.2% of 2019 Ford Edges for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Ford Edge 4.77 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
86.5% of 2019 Edge models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Edge stands out as a midsize, two-row SUV that helped define the family-crossover formula. Ford’s own test-drive notes say the Edge feels dated in some respects, but it delivers the backseat legroom and cargo space that buyers need. That combination makes it appealing to shoppers who want a practical cabin with room for passengers and luggage, even if some of its design and execution no longer feel especially fresh.
For 2019, Ford also offers an ST trim that adds performance to the Edge’s otherwise utilitarian character. That gives the model a broader appeal than a typical family SUV, since it aims to balance everyday commuting and hauling with more speed and driving excitement. Owner feedback generally reinforces that mix, with praise for performance, comfort, and features, along with the spacious interior and strong power that make it attractive for families and long trips.
At the same time, the 2019 Edge is not without drawbacks. Some reviewers mention sluggish acceleration, and others point to missing features such as automatic side mirrors. Those criticisms fit the broader impression of an SUV that remains useful and versatile, but does not feel fully modern in every respect.

Excellent driver, exceptional roominess front AND rear seat. Tons more space behind the second row than my Lincoln MKC (my trade in). I’m blown away that this Ford Edge is more quiet and rides better than the smaller MKC. Disappointments are no power lift gate, no garage door opener feature. Very comfortable leather seats, and the SEL comes standard with many safety features. So far very satisfied.

How much does the 2019 Ford Edge cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,462 |
| Year-Round Low | $15,305.62 |
| Year-Round High | $16,930.27 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $16,927 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.65% |
Prices have softened 8.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,760 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.
If you find a listing below $15,305.62, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Ford Edge earns a 4.77/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its performance, comfort, and features, and they also call out the spacious interior and strong power. That lines up with the Edge’s role as a midsize, two-row SUV built for families and long trips, even if some shoppers may notice its dated design and execution.
With 26.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding value if you shop carefully.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for performance, comfort, and features that make it easy to count on for family duty and road trips. The expert notes also support that impression, saying the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine “gets the job done and won’t let you down.”
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite and the Edge’s broad standard equipment help reinforce the sense that this is a practical, trouble-free choice for many used buyers. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is less about the core package and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been worn down by age, mileage, or deferred maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Edge?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any candidate, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on cabin condition, electronics, and signs of hard use, since the Edge’s value depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, and rain-sensing wipers, while the SEL adds black roof rails, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The SE’s tech is notably basic, so the SEL is the better value if you want a more complete everyday setup.
- Powertrain: Non-ST trims use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic and available AWD. The ST uses a 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 with 335 hp and 380 lb-ft, standard AWD, and much stronger acceleration.
- Safety package: Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Above the SE, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+ with adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering.
- Infotainment: The base system uses a 4.2-inch non-touchscreen display with USB, WiFi hotspot, streaming music, Bluetooth, and voice recognition. An 8-inch Sync 3 system is available on the SEL and standard on the Titanium and ST, and it adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration.
- Fuel efficiency: The base 2.0-liter with front-wheel drive returns 22 mpg city, 29 highway, 25 combined. The Edge ST returns 19/26/21.
Which 2019 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2019 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Edge experience with standard safety equipment and basic convenience features. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price, but the plain infotainment setup and missing upscale touches make it the least compelling choice for most shoppers.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim. It adds useful everyday upgrades like dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and it can be optioned with features that move it closer to the higher trims. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
- Titanium: This trim adds 19-inch wheels, standard leather upholstery, wireless charging, remote start, and a Bang & Olufsen 12-speaker premium sound system. Choose it if you want a more upscale cabin and don’t mind paying more for convenience and audio upgrades.
- ST: This is the performance-focused choice, with the 2.7-liter turbo V6, standard AWD, blacked-out styling, upgraded exhaust, and sportier hardware and appearance. It suits you if you want the quickest and most distinctive Edge, but it comes at a much higher price.
Co-Pilot360 is standard, and Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available above the SE.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Edge?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,760 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.65% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 75.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,305.62, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $15,462 sits slightly below last year's $16,927.
That softer pricing trend suggests the Edge has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you choose a clean, well-equipped example, you may have a better chance of holding value than if you overpay for a rougher one.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge safe?
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The Edge comes standard with Co-Pilot360, which includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. It also includes a reversing camera, traction control, and a full complement of front- and side-impact airbags.
Above the SE, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control that can stop and go with traffic, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering. That gives higher trims a more advanced driver-assistance setup, while the base SE still covers the essentials well.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.65% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Ford’s 2019 refresh adds a new grille, headlights, taillights, and a sportier look.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $17,038, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $15,462 average.
- It keeps the latest infotainment and safety tech while staying straightforward and easy to live with.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the cleaner alternative for shoppers who want a slightly more current take on the same basic formula.
