Overview

The Buick Cascada arrived on the scene for the 2016 model year as the brand’s first two-door model since the 1999 Riviera and its first drop-top since the 1991 Allante. Featuring a ride tuned for touring, the 2019 Cascada continues to dominate the comfort-cruiser market.
From the outside, everything about the Cascada is svelte, from its tidy front end to its clean, uninterrupted sides and its sleek cloth top. However, the styling is as much about function as form. The convertible has a short hood and a shorter deck-lid, allowing Buick to call it a true four-seater – and one that’s easier to maneuver than other convertibles at this price point.
Performance-wise, the Cascada is somewhat sporty, which is evidenced by the single powertrain on offer: a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder good for 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. It works with a 6-speed automatic transmission to deliver power to the front wheels. This package is rated at 21 miles per gallon city, 29 highway, and 26 combined on regular fuel.
Inside, a stitched dashboard and a tasteful, geometric perforation pattern on the upholstery begin to create a premium experience. However, the interfaces are quite dated: the Cascada gets none of the newer, snappier wares seen on Buick’s other models and neglects to offer several of the tech features buyers expect at this price point, such as keyless start or a color instrument panel display. Meanwhile, the center is a busy grid of monochromatic buttons that contradicts the neat exterior.
As a luxury car, the Cascada comes well-equipped even at its base 1SV trim. The 1SV trim includes 20-inch wheels, leather upholstery, adaptive HID headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, navigation, 4G LTE hotspot capability, 10-way power front seats, USB connectivity, SiriusXM radio, and a power-controlled top. The Premium trim offers a nicer set of 20-inch wheels, front and rear air deflectors that cut down on wind resistance and noise, and fog lamps. Sport Touring gives the Cascada some extra visual aggression with a blacked out grille, black accents on the wheels, and the elimination of the exterior brightwork. Inside, there’s a set of aluminum sport pedals, a sport steering wheel, and black upholstery.
For safety, every Cascada gets full tire-pressure monitoring and a reversing camera. Premium and Sport Touring tack on forward collision alert, automatic wipers, and lane-departure warning. The Cascada has not been crash tested by any external agency as of yet.
Those looking for a comfortable and compact convertible should be well-served by the 2019 Cascada.

Terrible ride, rough idle, plastic piece that holds the seatbelt came loose immediately. Bluetooth would not function and could not be fixed using the owner’s manual or videos. Arrived home from Carvana (25 minute ride) and car was leaking from the bottom rear of the car. Only kind thing to say about this car is that it was good-looking could fit a wheelchair in the trunk. I had better luck with my Volkswagen Eos (also a money pit.)
