The Continental GT, Bentley's handcrafted coupe, gets redesigned for 2019. The 2019 Continental GT features the same front lighting signature, windswept side profile, and prominent rear-fender haunches as its predecessor. However, the whole shape is longer, wider, and lower than the one it replaces. The rear features horizontal oval taillights in place of the old model’s square ones. The Continental GT’s interior features a sleek layer of wood that runs across the dashboard and wraps around the door panels, bisected by a thin line of chrome. Bentley’s attention to detail is so fine that the outboard vents line up perfectly with the chrome strip for a seamless look. The wide center stack consists of a neat row of multimedia buttons, with switches for the car’s various driving functions arranged artfully around the gear selector. Like the previous model, the 2019 Continental GT includes plush seating for four adults and no middle pillar. All four main side windows roll down completely. The Continental GT comes with Bentley's distinctive twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 engine, which sends 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels. That’s enough to blast the big coupe to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 207 mph. An 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) with a manual-shifting mode comes standard. A 48-volt electronic body-control system, enlarged front brakes, and a redesigned active air-suspension setup also come standard. The Continental GT V8 swaps the W12 for a twin-turbocharged V8 engine that boasts 542 hp and 568 lb-ft and connects to an 8-speed DCT. The V8 version of the Continental GT doesn’t give much up to the larger performance version, reaching 60 mph in 4 seconds and hitting a top speed of 198 mph. In keeping with tradition, the list of standard and optional features is as long as the car itself. Giant 21-inch wheels come standard, in two styles, while lightweight 22-inch wheels are an extra-cost option. Inside, the Continental GT comes with 20-way front seats with heating, cooling, and massaging functions. The base sound system packs 10 speakers, but you can select a Bang & Olufsen 16-speaker setup or an 18-speaker Naim system. Bentley’s Rotating Display includes a massive 12.3-inch LCD along with sophisticated analog dials. Shoppers can choose from 17 standard paint colors, 15 carpet options, eight single- and four dual-veneer wood choices, and 15 choices of interior hide. And, of course, Bentley’s Mulliner house will be happy to customize the car. The Continental GT now sports a full complement of standard and optional safety features. The City Specification package comes with traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, city braking, and a surround-view camera. Meanwhile, the Touring Specification offers adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, a head-up display (HUD), night vision with an infrared camera, and predictive braking. The 2019 Bentley Continental GT continues to be the last word in grand-touring sophistication.
