The BMW M6 offers buyers a sleeker, more stylish version of the M5 performance sedan. This year, BMW has axed both the coupe and convertible body styles, leaving only the four-door M6 Gran Coupe.

On the outside, the M6 Gran Coupe adds rugged, sportier features to the 6 Series Gran Coupe’s flowing, sleek form with aggressive front and rear bumpers, low-hanging side skirts, a carbon fiber roof panel, gloss black window surrounds, quad exhaust tips, and blue brake calipers that poke out from behind athletic, two-tone 20-inch wheels. The same feel carries over into the interior, features carbon fiber trim and heavily-bolstered seats with swaths of leather everywhere.

The M6 is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that produces an incredible 552 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque. An 8-speed performance automatic transmission is standard, but enthusiastic buyers can choose a 6-speed manual transmission at no extra cost. Power goes solely to the rear wheels. Thanks to its muscle under the hood, the M6 rockets to 60 miles per hour in just 4.3 seconds with the manual transmission or 4.1 seconds with the automatic, and it can reach an artificially-limited top speed of 156 miles per hour. For those looking for even more power, the Competition Package bumps horsepower to 592 and also includes an enhanced sport suspension.

BMW equips the M6 with plenty of standard features, including adaptive LED headlights, automatic high beams, power-folding mirrors, 10-way power seats, split-folding rear seats, leather upholstery, a 16-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, a 10.2-inch infotainment system with USB and CarPlay connectivity, keyless access and start, memory settings, automatic 4-zone climate control, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and soft-closing doors.

The only standard safety feature on the M6 is a reversing camera. The Driving Assistance Package adds on adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, frontal collision warning/prevention, a heads-up display, blind-spot monitoring, and in-cabin speed limit information. Additionally, the Parking Assistance Package comes with side and top view cameras and backup sensors. No major authority has crash-tested any variant of the 6 Series Gran Coupe, including the M6.

For a luxury ride that seats five people in absolute comfort, buyers can rarely do better than the M6. Its svelte shape, sophisticated luxury, and impressive performance all add up to a vehicle well worth its price tag.
