Overview

The BMW M5 came out in late 2018 as part of the car’s “F90” generation. BMW gave the car more power and upgraded several other components with more performance in mind. Output increased to 617 horsepower, but torque remained flat at 553 pound-feet. BMW claimed the horsepower upgrade shaved a tenth off the car’s 0-60 mph time, dropping it to 3.1 seconds. The M5 Comp got a 0.3-inch lowered ride height, a revised exhaust, upgrade wheels, and stiffer springs. BMW also increased the front camber to improve handling. Later on, BMW added an even crazier M5 CS with more power and performance goodies.

Key Features

  • All-wheel drive
  • Insanely powerful V8
  • Unique wheels
  • 0-60 in 3.1 seconds
  • Sedan-only body style

Pricing Details

The BMW M5 had a starting price of $104,695 when it was released, which includes a $995 destination charge and $1,000 gas guzzler tax. The M5 Competition stepped up to $110,995 to start. Keep in mind that BMW buyers had a boatload of options at their disposal, including an expensive M Driver’s Package, which pushed that already-insane price tag higher. Used examples on CarGurus range from $40,388.00 to $76,489.00 with an average price of $56,644.88.
