Is the 2019 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2019 BMW 4 Series stands out as a stylish, driver-focused luxury coupe, convertible, or Gran Coupe, and it emphasizes a lower, sleeker shape than the 3 Series it was derived from. It also gives you a broader body-style range than many rivals, including the five-door Gran Coupe, which adds rear doors and a hatchback tailgate to the formula. With 34.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitively priced example.

Is the 2019 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 BMW 4 Series is presented as a premium used car with strong performance and a high level of equipment, and even base cars were well equipped with features such as 17-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights, automatic climate control, power front seats, and BMW’s iDrive system. It also benefits from an early-2017 update that brought LED headlights for all models and stiffer suspension for a sharper drive. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that BMW repairs can be costly if something goes wrong.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 BMW 4 Series?

At 55.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can verify the car’s condition beyond the listing photos. Pay close attention to body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment and drivetrain match the seller’s description. If you’re considering a convertible, also focus on roof operation and cargo-area usability.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 BMW 4 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 831 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.18% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,013, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $19,013 sits slightly below last year's $20,484.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car is presented when you list it. A clean history and strong maintenance records should matter more if you want to protect your exit price.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2019 is a strong choice if you want the lower current average price and a broad selection of listings to compare. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to keep nearby model years in play and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing a specific badge year.
