Is the 2019 Audi A6 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Audi A6 earns a 4.89/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its blend of luxury, performance, and advanced technology, with especially strong feedback on the interior design, virtual cockpit, and touch screen controls. That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a redesigned midsize luxury sedan that feels modern while still staying squarely in the luxury-sedan mainstream.

With 39.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a well-priced example if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Audi A6 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.89/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on its luxury, performance, and advanced technology rather than recurring complaints. The expert driving notes also emphasize a smooth, light-electrified drivetrain and a refined, confidence-inspiring driving experience, which supports the impression of a car built to be counted on.

The maintenance and ownership picture looks favorable for a luxury sedan, but you should still expect higher long-term costs than a mainstream car, so a clean service history matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Audi A6?

At 70.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, and pay close attention to bodywork, electronics, and how the cabin and driver-assistance features operate. Because this model leans heavily on technology, you’ll want to confirm that the screens, camera systems, and assistance features all work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Premium Plus is the trim CarGurus suggests as the best-value choice because it adds Audi Virtual Cockpit, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a larger 10.1-inch navigation display, and a surround-view camera with Virtual 360 technology. Premium trim is the entry point, while Prestige adds more luxury and advanced equipment.
• Powertrain: The A6 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 7-speed S tronic automated manual transmission and Quattro Ultra all-wheel drive. It also uses a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that helps with fuel-saving coasting and stop-start behavior.
• Safety package: Pre Sense systems are standard up front and available for the rear of the car. With the Driver Assistance Package on Premium Plus or Prestige, you get adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist and turn assist, active lane assist with emergency assist, intersection assistant, and traffic-sign recognition. Prestige also adds HD Matrix LED headlights with automatic high-beam activation, while the night-vision assistant with pedestrian detection is exclusive to Prestige.
• Infotainment: The A6 uses two touchscreen displays, Audi’s latest MMI system, a 10.1-inch navigation display, wireless-style smartphone-era usability, haptic feedback, a surround-view camera with 360 Virtual View technology, and strong voice recognition. Audi Virtual Cockpit is a major highlight.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test loop returned 22.9 mpg, and the EPA estimate was 25 mpg.

Which 2019 Audi A6 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Audi A6 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point, and it gives you the redesigned A6 experience without stretching too far on price. It’s the trim to consider if you want the core luxury, the V6 powertrain, and the new MMI setup while keeping spending in check.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim. It adds Audi Virtual Cockpit, the Bang & Olufsen audio system, the larger 10.1-inch navigation display, and the surround-view camera with Virtual 360 technology, which makes the car feel much more complete.
• Prestige: This is the trim for you if you want the most advanced equipment and the most upscale presentation. It adds HD Matrix LED headlights with automatic high-beam activation, and it’s the trim to target if you want the fullest expression of the A6’s tech and luxury.

Audi says the more unusual and sophisticated driver-assistance features are reserved for Premium Plus and Prestige, so those trims are the ones to target if safety tech matters most to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Audi A6?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 39.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 579 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,522, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Audi A6's resale value?

The current average of $21,522 sits slightly below last year's $24,700.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also mean future resale gains are limited unless you choose a well-equipped, well-kept example. For a future seller, the key is to buy the right trim and keep the car’s condition strong, because technology-heavy luxury sedans tend to reward clean history and desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.89/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Audi A6 safe?

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Audi offers a long list of driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems for the 2019 A6, with the more unusual and sophisticated features reserved for Premium Plus and Prestige trim levels. Pre Sense systems are standard up front and available for the rear of the car, and the Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist and turn assist, active lane assist with emergency assist, intersection assistant, and traffic-sign recognition.

Prestige trim adds HD Matrix LED headlights with automatic high-beam activation, and the optional night-vision assistant with pedestrian detection is exclusive to Prestige. The systems are designed to work subtly in the background, which makes them easier to live with day to day.

Should I buy a 2019 Audi A6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 39.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.89/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned A6 brings a new MMI setup, a light-electrified hybrid powertrain, and more sophisticated driver-assistance technology.

The bottom line: The 2019 A6 makes the most sense if you want the redesigned model’s modern tech and luxury feel at a softer price than when it was new. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2019 stands out for its strong owner satisfaction, advanced features, and current market pricing.
