FAQs
Since its debut at the beginning of the decade, the Aston Martin Rapide has drawn attention. For 2019, Aston Martin introduces the Rapide AMR, which features aerodynamic tweaks and plenty of carbon fiber. It’s worth noting that production of the AMR is limited to 210 cars.
Shoppers can choose between the Rapide S and the AMR. Under the Rapide’s long sculpted hood and behind that trademark grille is the familiar 5.9-liter V12, making 552 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque in the Rapide S, enough to get the big 4-door from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 203 mph. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic and sends power to the rear wheels.
The all-new Rapide AMR turns things up a few notches with its 595 hp, but the package is as much about aerodynamics and handling as it is about straight-line speed. It has carbon ceramic brakes, a re-tuned adaptive suspension, and a lower ride height compared to the standard trim. It also has a carbon-fiber front splitter, diffuser, and spoiler, along with 21-inch wheels. Inside, the Rapide features high-quality materials like quilted, hand-stitched leather and piano black trim. Aston Martin’s “Q” personalization department will also add all kinds of bespoke touches to a Rapide interior.
In addition to the wheels and aerodynamic tweaks, the new Rapide AMR distinguishes itself from the standard trim with one of three design schemes. The “Standard” and “Silhouette” come in either Mariana Blue, Scintilla Silver, Lightning Silver, or Onyx Black. The Standard adds Lime accents to the exterior, while the Silhouette adds a full-length stripe in China Grey or Clubsport White. The “Signature” scheme gets Stirling Green exterior paint with Lime accents and a Lime stripe. Interiors are coordinated to match whatever the buyer picks for the outside.
The Rapide S has not been crash tested, which is common for high-price cars. It has limited safety features, like emergency brake assist.
The Rapide S and AMR both know how to make an entrance. The Rapide S competes with other luxury vehicles like the Porsche Panamera Turbo.
