The feedback also points to a trouble-free ownership experience for many buyers, especially those who value the XC90’s long-term appeal and solid build quality. For used buyers, the main risk is that luxury-SUV ownership can bring higher maintenance costs, so condition and service history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Volvo XC90?

At 70.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you commit. A pre-purchase inspection should be a priority, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a plug-in hybrid version. Focus on overall condition, infotainment behavior, and signs of wear that could point to expensive future repairs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Volvo XC90?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,075 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.95% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,233, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $17,233 sits slightly below last year's $19,571.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples should hold up better than average because buyers still respond strongly to the XC90’s premium image and safety-focused reputation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2018 if you want a well-liked XC90 at a softer market price and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 remains the better primary path when you want the strongest mix of owner satisfaction, deal availability, and current pricing.
