How much does the 2018 Volvo XC60 cost?

Prices have softened 10.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 734 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Volvo XC60 a good car?

Yes — 4.9/5 is a strong user rating for the 2018 Volvo XC60, and our experts score it 8.3/10. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise the luxurious interior, smooth ride, and impressive safety features. The review summary also points to strong comfort and family-friendly appeal, while the overview highlights its distinctive styling, semi-autonomous driving mode, and standout sound system.

That combination makes it especially appealing if you want a premium crossover that feels more individual than mainstream luxury rivals. Good and great deals account for 34.5% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2018 Volvo XC60 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary also points to reliability concerns, especially around electronics and higher-mileage vehicles, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and how the systems operate in real-world use. The expert notes reinforce that this is a highly capable, technology-heavy vehicle, which can be a plus for dependability when everything is working properly.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that complex electronics and advanced features may be more expensive to sort out if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Volvo XC60?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a full history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on electronics, driver-assistance functions, and any signs of uneven wear or deferred maintenance. It also helps to test every major convenience and safety feature yourself, since this model leans heavily on technology.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base Momentum trim includes a panoramic sunroof, active safety features, 18-inch wheels, and a 10-way power driver’s seat, while R-Design adds more technology, more aggressive design, and 19-inch wheels. Inscription brings unique stitched leather trim, interior chrome accents, and optional driftwood inlays, making it the most upscale choice.
• Powertrain: Every XC60 comes with standard all-wheel drive, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The T5 makes 250 hp, the T6 adds a supercharger for 316 hp, and the T8 plug-in hybrid combines gas and electric power for 400 hp and up to 17 miles of electric-only driving.
• Safety package: Volvo’s City Safety package is standard and can stop or steer the car away from potential collisions with pedestrians, bikes, and other cars. Oncoming Lane Mitigation is also new for 2018, while blind-spot detection and lane-keep assist are optional through the Vision package.
• Infotainment: Every XC60 gets a 9-inch Sensus touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. The system is highly customizable, but the menu structure can be confusing and distracting to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The T8 plug-in hybrid is rated at a combined 26 mpg and can travel up to 17 miles on electric power alone. The T6 Momentum with the Convenience Package is described as returning around 23 mpg combined.

Which 2018 Volvo XC60 trim should I buy?

The 2018 Volvo XC60 is offered in 3 trim levels: Momentum, R-Design, Inscription.

Here's the short version:

• Momentum: This is the best-value choice if you want the core XC60 experience without stretching the budget. You still get the panoramic sunroof, active safety features, 18-inch wheels, and a 10-way power driver’s seat, which makes it the trim most buyers should start with.
• R-Design: Choose this if you want a more aggressive look and more technology than the base trim. It adds 19-inch wheels and a sportier presentation, so it suits you if style matters and you want a step up without going all the way to the top trim.
• Inscription: This is the luxury-focused pick, with stitched leather trim, chrome accents, and optional driftwood inlays. It makes the most sense if you want the most upscale cabin and are willing to pay more for it.

Volvo’s City Safety package is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot detection and lane-keep assist require the Vision package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Volvo XC60?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 734 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,151, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Volvo XC60's resale value?

The current average of $17,151 sits slightly below last year's $19,252.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have less downside left than someone who paid closer to the original market peak.

Strong demand for well-kept examples should also help support values over time, especially for buyers who want a premium crossover with a strong safety reputation and distinctive styling. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Volvo XC60 safe?

The 2018 Volvo XC60 earns an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick+ rating.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Volvo’s City Safety package is standard and can stop the car or steer it away from potential collisions with pedestrians, bikes, and other cars. Oncoming Lane Mitigation is also standard for 2018, and Pilot Assist II can steer, keep the vehicle between lane lines, and adjust speed to match traffic at speeds up to 80 mph.

Blind-spot detection and lane-keep assist are available only with the Vision package, so you should confirm whether a used example has that equipment if you want the fullest safety setup. The system is strong overall, but it still depends on driver attention and can struggle with faded lane lines or cut-ins.

Should I buy a 2018 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 model brings an all-new platform, a totally different look and feel, and an optional plug-in hybrid drivetrain.

The bottom line: The 2018 XC60 is the right pick if you want the redesigned version with strong safety, style, and technology, especially if you value a more distinctive luxury crossover. If you are more price-sensitive, you may want to shop carefully for the best-condition example rather than paying up for a heavily optioned one.

How does the 2018 Volvo XC60 compare to the 2018 Audi Q5?

Our experts score the 2018 Volvo XC60 8.3/10 and the 2018 Audi Q5 7.8/10.

The XC60 stands out for its stronger safety score, more distinctive styling, and richer standard safety content. The Q5 has a slightly stronger base engine output and better city fuel economy, while also showing a larger pool of listings and a higher share of good or great deals.

If you want the more characterful luxury crossover with the stronger expert score, the Volvo is the better fit. If you want more inventory and a lower average used price, the Audi is worth a look.
