Is the 2018 Volvo S90 reliable?

Owners describe the S90 as dependable in everyday use, with praise centered on its trouble-free ownership experience, comfort, and the confidence that comes from its safety-focused design. Some drivers note that the electronics can feel complicated at first, but that does not outweigh the broader positive ownership feedback. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure any example you consider has been well maintained and thoroughly checked for condition issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Volvo S90?

At 68.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership patterns before you commit. A pre-purchase inspection should be a priority, especially if you want to evaluate electronics, interior condition, and any signs of prior repair work. Focus on overall condition and documentation, since a clean-looking listing is not the same as a clean history.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Volvo S90?

Yes — this looks like a buyer-friendly market if you are shopping carefully and comparing listings.

• Deal availability: 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 178 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.15% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,812, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Volvo S90's resale value?

The current average of $16,021 sits slightly below last year's $17,442.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make future resale gains harder to achieve if you buy at the wrong point. If you plan to sell later, your best protection is choosing a well-kept example with strong documentation and avoiding cars with questionable history. A lower entry price today can help offset some depreciation pressure when you eventually trade in or sell privately.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Volvo S90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $15,332, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $16,021 average.
• The 2017 stands out for its bold design and flagship role in Volvo’s lineup.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the stronger current-market mix of value, satisfaction, and deal availability. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2017 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one with a clean history and strong condition.
