How much does the 2018 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices have softened 2.19% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 491 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and conditions.

Is the 2018 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — with a user rating of 4.5/5, this model year lands as a strong choice for shoppers who want a practical hybrid. The overview points to a car that helped define the hybrid segment, with a reputation for fuel efficiency, low emissions, and environmental consciousness, plus usable rear seats and good cargo space. It also highlights a more refined fourth-generation setup with better handling, ride comfort, interior materials, and useful tech features, which makes it appealing if you want an efficient commuter that still feels well rounded. 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2018 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes the Prius as a durable hybrid with a long-standing reputation for efficiency and everyday practicality, while also noting that reliability-focused shoppers should check for recalls on affected cars. It also points out that hybrid components can raise repair costs and that some models lack power, so condition and maintenance history matter. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying extra later if the hybrid system or recall-related repairs were neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Prius?

At 58.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on hybrid-system health, maintenance history, and any signs of deferred repairs. Pay close attention to overall condition, because price and reliability can vary meaningfully by year and by how well the car was maintained.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 491 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.19% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,154, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $17,143 sits slightly below last year's $17,527.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, the best protection is buying a clean, well-kept example at a fair price now. Strong condition and documented maintenance should matter more than chasing the cheapest listing.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $20,087, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $17,143 average.
• It adds a new electric all-wheel-drive option.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the better value and are comfortable shopping carefully for condition and history. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer-year update, the 2019 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize added capability over price.
