Is the 2018 Tesla Model 3 a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.9/5, which is a strong signal that you’re looking at a well-liked used EV. Reviewers consistently praise its exciting performance, impressive technology, and fun driving experience, and they especially highlight its strong acceleration and advanced features like enhanced Autopilot. That makes it a compelling fit if you want an electric sedan that feels quick, tech-forward, and different from a conventional compact car. With 34.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Tesla Model 3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with many drivers emphasizing its trouble-free ownership experience and the confidence that comes from its strong long-term appeal. The same reviews also suggest that the car’s software-driven nature can shape the ownership experience in ways that matter over time, especially if you value a vehicle you can count on for regular commuting and routine use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the car’s core appeal and more about making sure the specific example you choose has been maintained and updated well.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Tesla Model 3?

At 74.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership history before you get too far into the process. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the car’s condition, with extra attention to signs of prior damage, uneven wear, or anything that suggests the car has had a harder life than the listing implies. Because this model is so tech-focused, it also makes sense to focus on how well the features and software-related systems work in real-world use.

That upward move suggests the market has remained supportive of this model year, which is a positive sign if you’re thinking about future resale. A car that holds demand while still offering a broad pool of listings can be easier to move later, especially if you buy at a sensible price today. Strong buyer interest in the Model 3’s performance and technology should help keep it relevant with used shoppers over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Tesla Model 3 or consider a different year?
