Generally — the 2018 Subaru WRX STI earns a 4.3/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2018 Subaru WRX STI reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways enthusiasts care about most, especially when it comes to performance that stays engaging over time. The same satisfaction around the engine, handling, and driving feel suggests you’re looking at a model that many owners feel confident living with. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core driving experience and more about finding an example that has been cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Subaru WRX STI?

At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether the car has any accident, title, or insurance claims in its past. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection so you can check for signs of hard use, uneven wear, or repairs that may not show up in photos. Because this model is performance-oriented, condition matters a lot, so focus on maintenance records, drivetrain health, and overall cosmetic and mechanical consistency.

That kind of price movement suggests the market still places solid value on this model year, especially for buyers who want a performance sedan with a strong enthusiast following. If demand stays steady, well-kept examples should remain relatively easy to move later. The limited share of clearly discounted listings also supports the idea that buyers are still willing to pay for the right car.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru WRX STI or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.41% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a strong choice if you want the WRX STI’s core formula and you can find a clean, well-kept example at a fair price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, it makes sense to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained car rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
