CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Nissan Kicks
overall

Summary
With 36 currently listed for sale near Miami, FL and an average price of $10,793, 11.1% of 2018 Nissan Kicks for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Nissan Kicks 4.67 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2018 Nissan Kicks is a crossover aimed at shoppers who do not need off-road capability or sporty handling, and that focus makes it a practical choice for everyday use. It is described as more useful than the Juke because Nissan includes features that accommodate the daily commuter. At the same time, it is less athletic and does not offer an all-wheel drive option, so its appeal is rooted in utility rather than performance.
That straightforward mission is part of what makes the 2018 Nissan Kicks distinctive. It leans into the subcompact crossover formula instead of trying to stand out with boldness, and that makes it a sensible option for buyers who want a useful vehicle without unnecessary complexity. Owners also commonly praise its value, spaciousness, comfort, backup camera, keyless entry, and gas mileage, though some note that certain expected interior touches are missing.

I was looking for a vehicle with good gas mileage. The kicks gets great mileage. But I was super surprised the little car is very comfortable for me Im a heavy set guy with bad knees and I was shocked just how comfortable it really is plus all of the safety features are a major bonus I could not be happier with the car and it is quite peppy for a four cylinder vehicle

Great vehicle with a few recommendations. Trunk latch inside, armrest on passenger seat would complete this vehicle. Would expect the SV model to have these features over the S model.

At 69.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the listing has any accident or repair history. If a car looks especially clean on paper, make sure the equipment actually works as advertised.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base S comes with 16-inch steel wheels with covers, roof rails, a rear window wiper, automatic headlights, cloth seats, a 6-way manual driver’s seat, a 4-way manual front passenger seat, a 60/40 split-fold rear seat, Bluetooth connectivity, and a standard 7-inch touchscreen. The SV adds 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, push-button start, and a partially digital instrument panel. The SR adds fog lights, LED low beams, a rear spoiler, a dark satin chrome grille accent, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a surround-view camera.
- Powertrain: It uses a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with 125 horsepower and 115 pound-feet of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive only. It is described as underpowered, but it can feel adequate for city driving and commuting.
- Safety package: Automatic emergency braking is standard on every trim. The SV adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while the SR adds a surround-view camera. The base trim misses those extra driver-assistance features.
- Infotainment: The standard system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and Siri Eyes Free. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are added on the SV and SR, and the system is described as straightforward and easy to use.
- Fuel efficiency: EPA estimates are 31 mpg city, 36 highway, and 33 combined. In testing, it returned 33.6 mpg.
Which 2018 Nissan Kicks trim should I buy?
The 2018 Nissan Kicks is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, and SR.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and the core commuter-friendly equipment. You still get the standard safety basics, a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, and the practical cabin layout, but you give up the nicer wheels, push-button start, and smartphone integration found higher up.
- SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds 17-inch alloy wheels, push-button start, a partially digital instrument panel, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. If you want the most useful mix of convenience and safety without stretching to the top trim, this is the one to target.
- SR: This is the trim to choose if you want the most equipment, including fog lights, LED low beams, a rear spoiler, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a surround-view camera. It makes sense if you want the most polished version of the Kicks and value parking help and extra visual upgrades.
The safety package starts with automatic emergency braking on every trim, while SV and SR add more advanced driver-assistance features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Kicks?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find value.
- Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 475 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.64% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 69.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,665, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Nissan Kicks's resale value?
The current average of $11,920 sits slightly below last year's $12,768.
That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim. Well-kept examples with the right equipment should hold up better than neglected ones, especially because shoppers in this segment tend to be price sensitive.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2018 Nissan Kicks safe?
The Kicks earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
It comes standard with front and side airbags, a reversing camera, and the Easy-Fill Tire Alert system. Automatic emergency braking is standard on every trim, while the SV adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert and the SR adds a surround-view camera. That means the base trim gives you the essentials, but higher trims add useful driver-assistance coverage for parking and lane-change situations.
Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Kicks or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 69.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.64% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2018 stands out for its practical commuter focus, useful features, and strong cost-effectiveness score.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $12,073, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $11,920 average.
- It adds standard advanced safety features.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2018 is the stronger price-conscious pick. If you are willing to pay a bit more for a newer model year with added standard safety equipment, the 2019 is the cleaner upgrade path.
