Is the 2018 Nissan Armada a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Nissan Armada earns a 4.64/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

Drivers consistently praise the spacious cabin, smooth ride, and luxury feel. The feature-rich setup also comes through in the reviews, and many owners see it as a strong fit for families and road trips.

That lines up with the Armada’s upscale, roomy positioning, especially if you want a large SUV that feels more polished than purely utilitarian. Good and great deals account for 35.2% of listings, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Review feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with particular praise for the Armada’s spaciousness and comfort over time. The expert notes also emphasize that it’s built to handle family hauling, road trips, and other long-term use cases with confidence.

The powertrain is described as smooth and capable, which supports the sense that this is a vehicle you can count on for regular use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that fuel economy and road noise may remain persistent annoyances rather than one-time issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Armada?

At 58.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body condition, repair quality, and signs of prior damage. Because this is a large SUV with a premium-leaning setup, it’s worth paying close attention to how well the cabin, electronics, and safety equipment have been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SV trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, HD Radio, NissanConnect, parking sensors front and rear, a 13-speaker Bose stereo, heated power seats, navigation, auto LEDs, roof rails, running boards, keyless entry and ignition, and a rear-view camera. The SL adds a 360-degree top-down camera, leather, remote engine start, driver memory functions, auto wipers, and larger wheels, while the Platinum adds front-seat ventilation, a rear entertainment system, power-folding heated mirrors, and more upscale touches.
• Powertrain: Every Armada uses a 5.6-liter V8 with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The setup is described as smooth and strong, with 390 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque, and AWD adds capability along with a small fuel-economy penalty.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring and warning, and forward collision warning with avoidance braking front and rear. The base SV cannot access most of the safety features, and lane-departure warning and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror are reserved for the Platinum.
• Infotainment: The Armada uses an 8-inch touchscreen with NissanConnect and HD Radio, plus extra USB ports. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included, and the system is described as dated.
• Fuel efficiency: The Armada is rated at 16 mpg combined, 14 mpg city, and 19 mpg highway in FWD form, and AWD trims lose 1 mpg in each column.

Which 2018 Nissan Armada trim should I buy?

The 2018 Nissan Armada is offered in 3 trim levels: SV, SL, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• SV: This is the entry point, but it still brings a lot of equipment, including the 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, Bose audio, parking sensors, heated power seats, and a rear-view camera. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the more advanced safety and convenience features.
• SL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 360-degree camera, leather, remote start, driver memory functions, and auto wipers. It’s also the trim where the safety package starts to make more sense, especially if you want the Technology Package.
• Platinum: This is the luxury-focused choice, with front-seat ventilation, rear entertainment, power-folding heated mirrors, and additional safety tech. Choose it if you want the most upscale Armada experience and don’t mind paying for it.

The safety-package trim note is simple: the SL with the Tech Package is the best starting point for safety, while the base SV misses most of those features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Armada?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 967 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.74% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,635, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Nissan Armada's resale value?

The current average of $15,682 sits slightly below last year's $17,972.

That decline suggests the Armada has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means sellers may face a softer market than they did a year ago. If you’re planning to resell later, the current pricing trend points to more competition and less pricing power than before.

Even so, the Armada’s roomy cabin and upscale appeal can help it stay attractive to the right shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.64/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Nissan Armada safe?

The 2018 Nissan Armada earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The SL trim with the Tech Package is where you should start when it comes to safety, and thankfully that’s a path with a $300 discount this year, as long as you were planning on a moonroof already. It’s a shame that the base SV trim can’t access most of the safety features and that lane-departure warning and avoidance and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror only come with the Platinum as well—a vehicle this big and burdensome shouldn’t be handicapped when it comes to available safety.

The Technology Package adds adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring and warning, and forward collision warning with avoidance braking front and rear. The Platinum also adds lane-departure warning and intervention. Braking performance is strong, with every Armada stopping from 60 mph in just 115 feet.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Armada or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.64/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Nissan added extra standard technology and made the Armada feel more upscale this year.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,135, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $15,682 average.
• The 2017 focuses more on comfort and cabin refinement.

The bottom line: If you want the more polished, better-equipped version, the 2018 is the better target. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up some of the added tech, the 2017 is the value play.
