Is the 2018 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise the smooth ride, good fuel economy, and spacious trunk, and they also value the comfort and technology features. For you, that makes this Altima a sensible pick if you want a roomy midsize sedan that prioritizes comfort, value, and everyday usability over driving excitement. With 27.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful shopping opportunity.

Is the 2018 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to dependable everyday comfort, with many drivers describing the car as smooth and trouble-free in normal use. At the same time, some reviews mention transmission concerns and maintenance-related issues, so you should pay close attention to service history and current condition. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable if you choose carefully, but it is worth being selective.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Altima?

At 48.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether the car has any accident, title, or service-record issues. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to the transmission, maintenance records, and signs of neglect inside and out. Because some owners reported cleanliness and battery-related concerns, condition should matter as much as price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Altima?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently and still find value if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,060 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.25% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 48.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,597, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $10,796 sits slightly below last year's $11,275.

That price movement suggests the model has softened in the used market, which can limit upside if you plan to sell soon. For you, that means resale value is more about buying at the right price than expecting strong appreciation later. The good news is that a lower entry cost can help offset some of that future depreciation if you keep the car in solid condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $13,455, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $10,796 average.
• It brings a major redesign with a more polished cabin and more modern technology.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if your priority is value, because it offers a lower purchase price and plenty of everyday comfort. If you can spend more and want a newer-feeling cabin with a more modern overall package, the 2019 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2018 remains the smarter buy as long as you verify history and condition carefully.
