CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC

Summary
With 174 currently listed for sale near Naples, FL and an average price of $14,999, 21.8% of 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLCs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC 4.69 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC stands out as a compact luxury SUV that blends style, comfort, and practicality in a way that made the nameplate successful. It is based on the contemporary C-Class sedan and wagon, and its shape is longer and sleeker than the GLK it replaced, giving it a more polished look and better everyday usefulness. Mercedes also positioned it as a five-seat SUV with a smooth, relaxing driving character rather than an off-road specialist, which helps explain its broad appeal.
For 2018, the GLC’s lineup was straightforward but varied enough to cover different buyers. The GLC 300 used a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 241 horsepower, rear-wheel drive was standard, and 4Matic versions added all-wheel drive. The AMG GLC 43 brought a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 362 horsepower, while the GLC 350e plug-in hybrid combined the four-cylinder engine with an 85kW electric motor for all-wheel drive and a total system output of 320 horsepower, or 315 for later versions. All versions used a nine-speed automatic transmission, and the GLC Coupe was available for shoppers who wanted similar practicality with a more rakish profile.
The 2018 model also came well equipped, with standard features including adaptive braking, a rear-view camera, a power tailgate, and electrically adjustable front seats. That said, the GLC was not especially strong on reliability, and owners have noted suspension and electrical issues, along with piston and cylinder problems on some GLC 300 models. Even so, it remained attractive to buyers because it delivered a premium feel, strong comfort, and a lot of equipment for the money.

I love the features the car comes with, all for a reasonable value. Personally for me, the car is missing that lane departure steering wheel rumble and fog lamps would've been nice.

Comfortable ride and spacious for its class. I love the technology integrated with the vehicle. Only downside with this, however, is that Mercedes Benz does not offer CarPlay. Its not a deal breaker thought because blue tooth works just as well alongside the USB port for the media player. I traded in my 07 Targa 4 for this vehicle and do not regret it. Its been a great purchase for my family and our 4-legged fur baby.

No comparison. Like nothing I’ve ever driven or owned. I would highly recommend the Mercedes brand and especially the GLC 300 if you want an elegant SUV.

|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $18,241 |
| Year-Round Low | $17,941 |
| Year-Round High | $20,118 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $20,113 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.31% |

There are 1,596 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.
Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC a good car?
Yes — the 4.69/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its comfort, luxury, and build quality, and many also like the spacious interior and advanced technology features. In practical terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want a compact luxury SUV that emphasizes everyday comfort, premium feel, and broad appeal. With 35.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC reliable?
Owners rate it 4.69/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback highlights build quality and a generally trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, while also pointing to the vehicle’s comfort and premium feel. That said, used buyers should still plan for careful inspection because long-term ownership risk can rise if prior maintenance was inconsistent.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC?
At 68.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you commit. A pre-purchase inspection should be a priority, especially for suspension, electrical, and engine-condition concerns. Focus on overall condition and maintenance evidence, since those factors matter more when you’re shopping a luxury SUV with mixed prior-use histories.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,596 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.31% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 68.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $17,941, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC's resale value?
The current average of $18,241 sits slightly below last year's $20,113.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make future resale a little more competitive if you buy at the wrong price. If you purchase near the lower end of the range and keep the vehicle well maintained, you give yourself a better chance of limiting depreciation. Strong owner satisfaction also helps support demand when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.69/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 68.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.31% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.69/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $15,568, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $18,241 average.
- It offers a more performance-focused personality with strong appeal for enthusiastic drivers.
The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2018 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower current market price, solid owner satisfaction, and decent deal availability. If your top priority is saving money upfront, the 2017 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one with a clean history and strong maintenance records.
