Why it stands out
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA stands out as a small luxury crossover that blends upscale features with a compact footprint. For this model year, Mercedes gave it updated styling front and rear, a redesigned gauge cluster, chrome interior highlights, and a standard 8-inch infotainment screen. A rear-view camera also became standard in 2018, adding everyday convenience to a vehicle that already aimed to feel more premium than its size might suggest.
It also offered a useful mix of technology and powertrain choices. The GLA 250 used a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and available in front-wheel drive or 4Matic all-wheel drive. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were added for 2017 and carried into 2018, while the available GLA 45 AMG brought much more performance with 375 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. That combination makes the 2018 GLA appealing to buyers who want a premium badge, strong tech, and a sporty driving character in a small package, though its limited cargo space remains a drawback.

This car is everything that I wanted in an SUV! It’s small enough for me yet has the room and capacity to use for pickups and hauling. The panoramic roof is everything! I LOVE THIS SUV!

I bought the car 3 years ago and have had zero problems with it. The only issue was the factory hp of 208 was marginal. I had that fixed by getting a professional performance stage 2 tune to about 300 hp. The AMG version of the GLA uses the same 2 liter turbo engine and is rated at 375 hp. I recently drove a 2018 AMG version and I can say its not that much faster than my re-tuned GLA 250. The MSRP difference is over $20k and my tune cost $1k.

I love my new car. The handing is amazing. The luxury feeling without the luxury price is amazing. I love the look. It’s compact but big enough for me and my two older kids. Seriously I love it.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA a good car?
Yes — owners rate it 5/5, which points to strong overall satisfaction. The user feedback highlights its technology, safety, and comfort features, along with a smooth performance and a luxurious feel without a big price penalty. That fits the GLA’s role as a compact luxury crossover for you if you want a premium badge, modern tech, and a sporty driving character in a small package. With 33.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also emphasizes that the GLA feels dependable in daily use, with comfort and technology that help it work well as a long-term compact luxury crossover. If you want a used Mercedes that owners describe as smooth and trouble-free to live with, this model year fits that profile well. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been cared for consistently, since premium features can be costly to sort out later.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA?
At 57.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can confirm the condition matches the listing. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven wear, and any issues with the electronics or comfort features that matter most in a small luxury crossover. Because this model is compact, also pay close attention to cabin space and visibility during your test drive to make sure it works for your daily routine.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 613 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.98% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 57.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,260, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA's resale value?
The current average of $14,260 sits slightly below last year's $16,019.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. If you keep the car clean, documented, and free of major issues, you’ll be in a better position to protect value when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 57.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.98% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line:
If you want the best balance of updated features, strong owner satisfaction, and a softer price than a year ago, the 2018 is the primary year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2018’s refreshed equipment and broader appeal.
