Should I buy a 2018 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.95% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $13,243, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $14,811 average.
• It gained a meaningful update and added more driving polish.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $16,923, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $14,811 average.

The bottom line: The 2018 is the best all-around pick if you want the strongest balance of price, owner satisfaction, and market availability. If your budget is tighter, the 2017 is the value play; if you want a newer-feeling cabin and can spend more, the 2019 is the upgrade path.
