Why it stands out
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee stands out because it blends Jeep’s traditional off-road capability with a more premium, family-friendly feel. By this point in the model’s run, it offered a wide range of trims and equipment, from basic and affordable versions to more luxurious ones, and it remained one of the few midsize SUVs that could still be configured with serious four-wheel-drive hardware and terrain-focused capability. That mix of ruggedness and upscale appeal is a big part of why the Grand Cherokee has long been distinctive.
For 2018, Jeep added a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto as standard equipment, which helped make the cabin feel more modern and easier to live with. The model also had a strong reputation for comfort and technology, and buyers could still choose from a broad spread of powertrains and capability-focused setups. At the same time, the Grand Cherokee was not without compromises: fuel economy was only mediocre by midsize SUV standards, and some versions were known for reliability concerns. Even so, the 2018 Grand Cherokee remained appealing because it delivered capability, comfort, and a premium image in a package that was still more attainable than many luxury-brand SUVs.

| Average Price a Year Ago | $17,923 |

There are 5,795 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.73/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its strong performance, comfort, and luxurious features, and many also highlight the spacious interior, impressive technology, and off-road capability. That makes it a compelling choice if you want a midsize SUV that can feel premium while still fitting family use and everyday driving. With 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?
Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a vehicle that many owners feel good about living with over time, especially when it comes to comfort, performance, and capability. The recurring praise for its strong performance and premium feel suggests many buyers find it dependable enough to count on for regular use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some versions can carry higher upkeep concerns, so condition and maintenance history matter.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body panels, alignment, suspension behavior, and signs of uneven wear, since those can reveal past accident effects. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition and maintenance records, especially if you want a cleaner example that should be easier to own long term.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 5,795 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.53% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 62.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $16,393, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?
The current average of $16,395 sits slightly below last year's $17,923.
That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect value when it’s time to sell. Listings with cleaner histories and better equipment should be easier to move later than rougher examples.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.53% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $14,214, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $16,395 average.
- It emphasizes upscale comfort and off-road character.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $17,970, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $16,395 average.
- It balances everyday drivability with strong all-around capability.
The bottom line: The 2018 is the best all-around pick if you want a strong mix of value, owner satisfaction, and broad inventory. If your priority is saving money, the 2017 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one with a clean history and solid maintenance records.
