How much does the 2018 Honda Odyssey cost?

Prices have softened 7.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,312 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Honda Odyssey a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Honda Odyssey earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners repeatedly praise its spaciousness, comfort, family-friendly features, reliability, and modern design. That lines up well with the overview: you’re looking at a redesigned minivan that aims to be more refined, more capable, and more versatile than the typical family hauler. For shoppers who want a practical vehicle that still feels more engaging to drive, that combination is a strong fit.

The market also shows healthy interest, with 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2018 Honda Odyssey reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to reliability, and the expert evaluation reinforces that this is a minivan built to be counted on for family duty. The performance notes also describe the updated powertrain and transmissions as a meaningful improvement, which supports the sense that the 2018 model is engineered for dependable everyday use. The cost-effectiveness commentary adds that there are no current offers, rebates or incentives, so you should shop carefully and compare condition, mileage, and equipment.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core formula and more about finding a well-kept example with the right trim and features for your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Odyssey?

At 59.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple trims or higher-mileage examples. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the equipment you want is actually present, since some of the most useful family features are trim-dependent. If you’re shopping for a used minivan, it’s worth paying close attention to how the cabin, electronics, and safety systems have held up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the simplest version and still includes 18-inch alloys, push-button start, auto climate control, power front seats, a reversing camera, Bluetooth, USB input, and a small 5-inch screen, but it misses several convenience and safety features that appear on the EX. The EX adds power-sliding rear doors, keyless ignition and entry, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, HD Radio, and a broader safety suite, making it the more complete everyday choice.
• Powertrain: Every Odyssey uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 hp, paired with either a 9-speed or 10-speed automatic. The 10-speed is described as smoother and more responsive, while the 9-speed is noted as slower and rougher when shifting.
• Safety package: HondaSense is standard on every trim other than the base LX, and it includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning and intervention, forward-collision warning and mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. Parking sensors are reserved for higher trims.
• Infotainment: The system uses a 5-inch screen on the base LX, while the updated interface is described as faster and more responsive. The EX adds Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the rear-seat entertainment setup brings a 10-inch screen with built-in kid-friendly apps.
• Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey is rated at 19 mpg city, 28 highway, and 22 combined.

Which 2018 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2018 Honda Odyssey is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the Odyssey, but it’s also the most stripped-down. You get the core minivan basics, yet you miss the broader safety and convenience equipment that makes the EX feel much more complete for family use.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers. It adds the features many buyers will want right away, including power-sliding rear doors, keyless entry and ignition, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and the HondaSense safety suite.
• EX-L: This trim is for you if you want more comfort and convenience, including leather upholstery, a power liftgate, a moonroof, memory settings, and access to the navigation and rear entertainment options.
• Touring: This is the better pick if you want a more premium family hauler. It adds LED headlights, a hands-free liftgate, 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot capability, parking sensors, and the integrated vacuum system.
• Elite: This is the top-tier choice if you want the most upscale Odyssey experience. It adds 19-inch alloys, more cabin sound insulation, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, rain-sensing wipers, and a 550-watt, 11-speaker stereo.

The safety suite is standard on every trim other than the base LX, so if you want the strongest mix of value and equipment, the EX is the trim most buyers should start with.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda Odyssey?

The market looks moderately favorable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,312 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,350, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $19,350 sits slightly below last year's $21,026.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean future resale gains are more limited if you buy at the wrong price. If you plan to sell later, condition and trim choice will matter a lot, because well-equipped, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. The current pricing also gives you a clearer benchmark for negotiating now and protecting value later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2018 Honda Odyssey earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA tests except for a four-star rollover rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

HondaSense is standard on every trim other than the base LX, and it includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning and intervention, forward-collision warning and mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. Parking sensors are limited to higher trims. The safety writeup also notes that the braking distance is average for the class, so while the Odyssey is strong overall, it is not class-leading in every safety-related measure.

Should I buy a 2018 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Prices have softened 7.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned package with more features, better handling, improved versatility, and more power.

The bottom line: The 2018 Odyssey is a smart choice if you want the redesigned fifth-generation model with strong owner satisfaction, solid safety, and a market that has become more buyer-friendly. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and shop aggressively, but the 2018 stands out as a well-rounded pick for families who value refinement and versatility.
