Is the 2018 Honda Fit a good car?

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Fit?

At 59.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on cabin condition, tire wear, and how the car drives, since the Fit’s value depends heavily on whether it still feels as versatile and well-kept as it should.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the most basic version, while the Sport adds 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, a lower front spoiler, side underbody spoilers, a 6-speaker stereo, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The EX adds push-button start, cargo tie-downs, SiriusXM satellite radio, telescoping sun visors, and SmartLock, while the EX-L adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, heated body-color side mirrors, and integrated turn signals in the mirrors.
• Powertrain: You get a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT. The manual makes 130 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque, while the CVT makes 128 hp and 113 lb-ft. The Fit is described as peppy around town, with sharper handling and responsive steering that suit city driving.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on the EX and EX-L, and available on the LX and Sport only with the CVT. It includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, lane-departure warning, and road-departure mitigation.
• Infotainment: The Sport, EX, and EX-L use a 7-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on every model except the LX, and the navigation system is available on the EX-L.
• Fuel efficiency: The 6-speed manual is rated at 29 mpg city, 36 highway, and 31 combined. The CVT is rated at 33 city, 40 highway, and 36 combined.

Which 2018 Honda Fit trim should I buy?

The 2018 Honda Fit is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already includes power locks, power windows, air conditioning, a power moonroof, a four-speaker stereo, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the extra tech and convenience features found higher up.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus exterior and interior upgrades that make the car feel more polished. It also brings the sporty appearance and equipment changes that help it stand out without jumping too far in price.
• EX: This is the smart step-up if you want more convenience and the standard Honda Sensing safety suite. Push-button start, cargo tie-downs, SiriusXM satellite radio, telescoping sun visors, and SmartLock make it feel more complete for everyday use.
• EX-L: This is the comfort-oriented choice, with leather upholstery, heated front seats, heated mirrors, and integrated mirror turn signals. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Fit experience and are willing to pay for it.

Honda Sensing is standard on the EX and EX-L, and available on the LX and Sport only with the CVT.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda Fit?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have enough inventory to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 355 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.37% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 59.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,641, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Honda Fit's resale value?

The current average of $14,863 sits slightly above last year's $14,662.

That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A car that maintains demand while staying in a practical price band can be easier to move when it’s time to trade in or list privately.

The Fit’s broad appeal as a roomy, efficient, city-friendly hatchback should help keep buyer interest steady. If you maintain it well and keep mileage and condition in check, you should be in a better position to preserve value.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Honda Fit safe?

The 2018 Honda Fit earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

It includes standard safety features such as front- and side-impact airbags, the LATCH child-seat anchoring system, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a reversing camera with multiple angles and guide-lines that turn with the steering wheel. Honda Sensing is standard on the EX and EX-L, and available on the LX and Sport only with the CVT; it includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, lane-departure warning, and road-departure mitigation.

The available Honda LaneWatch system is another useful feature, projecting a camera view of the right-side blind spot onto the center touchscreen when you signal right. That said, the safety package is trim-dependent, so you should verify whether a used example has the driver-assistance features you want.

Should I buy a 2018 Honda Fit or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.37% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 update brings more advanced safety features, an updated suspension for sharper handling, and the return of a Sport trim.

The bottom line: The 2018 Honda Fit is a strong choice if you want a compact hatchback that feels unusually complete, practical, and easy to live with. If you value a well-rounded package with good fuel economy, useful space, and solid safety content, this is the year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully for a lower-priced example, but you should be selective about condition and accident history.
