How much does the 2018 Ford Fusion cost?

There are 1,807 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Ford Fusion a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Ford Fusion earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

The Fusion stands out because it gives you an unusually broad lineup, from basic and stylish versions to hybrid and plug-in hybrid choices, plus a luxurious sedan and a genuine sports sedan. That variety makes it a strong fit if you want a midsize car that can be tailored to different priorities, and the overall package is described as one of the better midsize cars you can buy.

The market also shows 28.9% of listings as good or great deals, which is a useful sign if you’re shopping carefully.

Is the 2018 Ford Fusion reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2018 Fusion is presented as a well-rounded sedan with a broad range of configurations, and the expert review emphasizes that it balances style, performance, and everyday usability. The performance notes also point to strong braking behavior and confident power delivery, which are encouraging signs for durability-minded shoppers who care about how a car holds up in real use.

Its technology package includes modern convenience features that help the car feel current, and the cost-effectiveness commentary suggests Ford made the Fusion appealing to buyers through a mix of trims and incentives. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is choosing a higher-strung version without accounting for its more demanding fuel and maintenance profile.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Ford Fusion?

At 59.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had prior bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on overall condition, signs of uneven wear, and whether the car’s equipment and trim level match the listing description. If you’re considering a sportier or more heavily optioned version, make sure the added hardware and electronics are functioning properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from basic and stylish versions to a luxurious sedan and a genuine sports sedan, and the base trim uses inexpensive hard plastic while higher-end versions add more upscale finishes.
• Powertrain: The Fusion is available with a standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, plus turbocharged 1.5-liter, 2.0-liter, and twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 options; hybrid versions are rated at 42 mpg in combined driving, and plug-in hybrid versions deliver 97 MPGe.
• Safety package: Ford offers a broad set of safety, driver-assistance, and collision-avoidance features, including optional inflatable rear seat belts and available active parking assist.
• Infotainment: Sync 3 includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Sync Connect with FordPass app support, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Siri Eyes Free, audible text messaging, 911 Assist, voice recognition, and available navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The performance-oriented version returned 20.6 mpg on a test loop and is designed to use 93-octane fuel.

Which 2018 Ford Fusion trim should I buy?

The 2018 Ford Fusion is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Fusion lineup without chasing extra equipment.
• SE: This is the best-value trim because it sits in the middle of the range and can be paired with the optional 240-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and AWD for a rewarding all-weather setup.
• Titanium: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and more luxury-oriented equipment without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Platinum: This is the loaded-up choice if you want the most luxury-focused Fusion experience.

Ford also offers a broad set of safety, driver-assistance, and collision-avoidance features, with optional inflatable rear seat belts and available active parking assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Ford Fusion?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,807 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.62% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,407, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Ford Fusion's resale value?

The current average of $11,407 sits slightly below last year's $12,348.

That softer pricing suggests the Fusion has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to stay competitive on condition, mileage, and equipment. The broad trim spread helps the model appeal to different shoppers, which can support demand, but the market still rewards clean, well-kept examples more than average ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Ford Fusion safe?

The 2018 Fusion performs beautifully in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) assessments, including the new front passenger’s side small overlap frontal impact test.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford offers a usual laundry list of safety, driver-assistance, and collision-avoidance features, and the car also includes optional inflatable rear seat belts designed to add extra cushioning in a collision. The IIHS does note weaker headlights and less accessible child safety seat anchors, and the federal government’s three-star crash protection rating for the front passenger is a notable shortcoming.

Should I buy a 2018 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 Fusion stands out for its unusual breadth of lineup, including basic, stylish, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, luxury, and sports-sedan versions.

The bottom line: If you want the broadest mix of trims and personalities in a midsize sedan, the 2018 Fusion is the right year to target. If your priority is simply finding the cleanest, best-priced example, you can still shop nearby years, but the 2018 gives you a strong blend of variety, value, and available equipment.

How does the 2018 Ford Fusion compare to the 2018 Honda Accord?

Our experts score the 2018 Ford Fusion 8.5/10 and the 2018 Honda Accord 8.2/10.

The Fusion gives you a much lower average used price and a broader range of personalities, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, luxury, and sports-sedan variants. The Accord counters with stronger fuel economy, a higher starting MSRP, and more listings, so it may suit you better if efficiency and mainstream appeal matter more than variety.
