There are 1,731 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2018 Dodge Durango a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Dodge Durango earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, powerful performance, smooth ride, and family-friendly features. The market still shows room to shop, with 29.9% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2018 Dodge Durango reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling SUV that many owners are happy to live with over time, especially for family use and road trips. The expert evaluation also emphasizes strong powertrain capability and a durable, truck-like sense of purpose, which supports confidence in day-to-day use. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps lower early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-mileage examples may have seen hard use, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Dodge Durango?

At 62.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on any listing that looks unusually cheap. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, brake condition, and evidence that the electronics and safety systems work as intended. Because this model can be optioned heavily, make sure the features you care about are actually present on the specific vehicle you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base versions start with a 7-inch touchscreen, reversing camera, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, RWD, 7-passenger seating, keyless ignition and entry, 3-zone auto climate control, a load-leveling rear suspension, and heated mirrors. Higher trims add features like an 8-way power driver’s seat with lumbar, roof rails, rear park assist, power liftgate, remote start, leather upholstery, heated front and second-row seats, heated steering wheel, driver memory settings, rear parking sensors, upgraded leather, ventilated front seats, sunroof, front parking sensors, and a premium stereo.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 293-hp V6, a 360-hp V8, and a 475-hp V8. The V6 returns 19 mpg city and 26 highway, while the V8 options trade efficiency for stronger towing and more muscle.
• Safety package: A Technology package adds adaptive cruise with auto braking and brake assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path alert, full-speed forward-collision warning, and lane-departure warning. A Safety/Security & Convenience Group adds auto high beams with auto leveling, blind-spot monitor with cross-path alert, low-beam HIDs, rain-sensing wipers, and a power steering column.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a reversing camera. Higher trims can add an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and some packages bring a premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 19 mpg city and 26 highway. The 5.7-liter V8 returns 14 mpg city and 22 highway, while the 6.4-liter V8 is rated at 13 mpg city and 19 highway.

Which 2018 Dodge Durango trim should I buy?

The 2018 Dodge Durango is offered in 6 trim levels: SXT, SXT Plus, GT, Citadel, R/T, SRT.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the value starting point if you want the Durango’s core strengths without stretching the budget. You get the standard tech and seating setup, plus the V6’s best-in-class towing for the class.
• SXT Plus: This is the best-value upgrade if you want a more comfortable daily driver. The added power driver’s seat, lumbar support, roof rails, and rear park assist make it feel more complete.
• GT: This trim is the sweet spot for shoppers who want more comfort and convenience. The power liftgate, remote start, leather upholstery, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and parking sensors make it feel much more upscale.
• Citadel: Choose this if you want the most luxury-focused version before stepping into performance territory. It adds more upscale cabin materials, ventilated front seats, a sunroof, front parking sensors, and an upgraded infotainment system.
• R/T: This is the pick if you want V8 power and a sportier setup. It adds the 5.7-liter V8, sport suspension, upgraded steering, LED fog lights, and best-in-class towing.
• SRT: This is the performance flagship, with the 6.4-liter V8, adaptive suspension, sport steering tune, electronic limited-slip differential, and SRT Performance Pages.

The safety package is not standard on every trim, so check carefully if you want the advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Dodge Durango?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,731 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,400, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Dodge Durango's resale value?

The current average of $17,570 sits slightly below last year's $19,516.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and equipment than to age alone. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold buyer interest better than stripped or heavily worn ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Dodge Durango safe?

The Durango earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side impacts, and independent evaluations gave it top ratings in all tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes four-wheel antilock discs, stability control, traction control, trailer sway control, and a full airbag suite with front side, driver knee, and full-length curtain airbags. The available Technology package adds adaptive cruise with auto braking and brake assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path alert, full-speed forward-collision warning, and lane-departure warning. One caveat is that some advanced safety systems are not standard on every trim, so you may need to shop carefully to get the full suite.

Should I buy a 2018 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year adds Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a standard reversing camera, and a new SRT trim with 475 hp.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,628, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $17,570 average.
• It emphasizes family usefulness, towing strength, and a rugged, function-first character.

The bottom line: Buy the 2018 if you want the updated tech, stronger performance story, and broader appeal. If your priority is saving money and you can live without the newer standard features, the 2017 is the value play.

How does the 2018 Dodge Durango compare to the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse?

Our experts score the 2018 Dodge Durango 7.8/10 and the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse 8/10.

The Durango leans harder into performance, towing, and a more muscular personality, while the Traverse offers a stronger overall expert score and a lower average used price. The Durango also has the edge in good-and-great deal share, but the Traverse brings more listings and slightly better fuel economy on the highway. If you want the more athletic three-row SUV, the Durango makes sense; if you want the broader-value family hauler, the Traverse is the easier recommendation.
