Used 2018 Chevrolet Traverse for Sale nearReno, NV

How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse cost?

Prices have softened 11.29% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,692 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, comfortable ride, and impressive cargo space, which makes it especially appealing if you want a family-friendly three-row SUV. The overview also frames it as a strong fit for shoppers who want size, value, and everyday usefulness in one package. At the same time, the feedback points to a model that can feel short on power when towing, so your priorities matter if you regularly haul heavy loads. With 29.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback repeatedly points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on comfort, space, and value. The expert review also describes the Traverse as a strong bargain and notes that it is more useful and more efficient than before, which supports the case for confident everyday use. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been cared for well, especially if it has seen heavy family-duty use or towing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Traverse?

At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition inside and out, since family use can leave a lot of wear even when the SUV still looks good at first glance. If you plan to tow or carry a full load often, pay extra attention to how the vehicle drives under stress.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Lower trims are fairly basic, while higher trims add more upscale materials and equipment; the LT is the minimum trim called out for better value and for access to blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and a 9-speed automatic, while the RS uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 255 horsepower and front-wheel drive only.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist require the pricier Premier or High Country trims.
• Infotainment: Chevrolet’s MyLink system includes a 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar services, and Teen Driver technology; leather-seat versions add an 8-inch display, navigation, and a 10-speaker Bose system.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returned 20.6 mpg on the test loop, better than the EPA estimate of 20 mpg.

Which 2018 Chevrolet Traverse trim should I buy?

The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LS, LT with cloth seats, LT with leather seats, RS, Premier, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but the source makes clear that lower trims are fairly basic, so you should only choose it if price matters more than equipment.
• LS: A sensible step up if you want the Traverse’s core space and utility without chasing luxury features.
• LT with cloth seats: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because the source specifically points to the LT as the minimum trim worth targeting for broader appeal and added equipment.
• LT with leather seats: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin and the added tech that comes with leather-seat versions, including the larger display and navigation.
• RS: This is the one to consider if you want the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and a sportier personality, but it is front-wheel drive only.
• Premier: A strong pick if you want more comfort and access to the advanced driver-assistance features that are not available on lower trims.
• High Country: This is the most fully equipped version, with standard AWD and the most premium presentation.

The safety-package features are not available until the Premier or High Country trims, so buyers who want the most advanced driver assistance should focus there.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Traverse?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,692 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.29% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,919, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $14,919 sits slightly below last year's $16,817.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of further depreciation. The Traverse’s broad family appeal and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Traverse is available with modern driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems, but the pricier Premier or High Country trims are required to get forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. The standard Rear Seat Reminder is a useful family-focused feature, and the SUV’s extra distance between the third row and the rear glass and tailgate is a meaningful design advantage for rear-seat occupants. One caveat is that crash-test ratings were not yet available in the source material.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign makes this year a bigger, more useful, and more efficient Traverse, with strong value positioning.

The bottom line: The 2018 Traverse is the right choice if you want the redesigned version and you value space, comfort, and family usefulness more than maximum towing or the newest safety packaging. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may cost less, but the 2018 is the better bet when you want the updated design and a strong mix of features for the money.

How does the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse compare to the 2018 GMC Acadia?

Our experts score the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse 8/10 and the 2018 GMC Acadia 7.2/10. The Traverse is the stronger pick if you want more power, more space, and a more bargain-friendly used price. The Acadia is smaller and more efficient in city driving, but the Traverse’s broader family appeal and stronger overall expert score make it the more compelling choice for most shoppers.
