Used 2018 Chevrolet Traverse for Sale near New Mexico

How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse cost?

Prices have softened 9.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,679 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.73/5, and our experts give it an 8/10. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, comfortable ride, and impressive cargo space, which makes this a strong fit if you want a family-friendly three-row SUV. The overview also points to broad appeal as a larger, more useful, and more efficient package, while user feedback highlights value for money and everyday practicality.

At the same time, some owners note that lower trim levels are fairly basic, so you may want to shop carefully if you want more convenience features. Good and great deals account for 30.7% of listings, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centered on the Traverse’s comfort, space, and everyday usefulness. The expert review also describes the SUV as solidly built, with cabin materials that are securely affixed and an overall impression of robust construction.

The ownership risk for used buyers is less about outright durability and more about finding a well-kept example, since condition and maintenance history will matter a lot on a family SUV that may have seen heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Traverse?

At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the SUV has been used for family hauling, commuting, or towing. Focus on signs of wear in the cabin, evidence of prior bodywork, and whether the vehicle’s features and equipment match the trim level you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Lower trims are fairly basic, while higher trims add a more upscale cabin and more convenience equipment; the LT is the minimum trim called out as a better value because it looks nicer inside and out and unlocks more useful equipment.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic; the RS uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist are reserved for the pricier Premier and High Country trims; blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert requires at least the LT.
• Infotainment: Chevrolet’s MyLink system includes a 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar services, and Teen Driver technology; leather-seat versions add an 8-inch display, navigation, and a 10-speaker Bose system.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returned 20.6 mpg on the test loop, better than the EPA estimate of 20 mpg.

Which 2018 Chevrolet Traverse trim should I buy?

The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LS, LT with cloth seats, LT with leather seats, RS, Premier, High Country.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but the lower trims are described as fairly basic, so you should only choose it if price matters most and you’re comfortable giving up convenience and upscale touches.
• LS: This is the next step up if you want a little more equipment without moving too far up the price ladder, but it still sits on the simpler side of the lineup.
• LT with cloth seats: This is the best-value trim because the review specifically says you’ll probably want at least the LT; it looks nicer inside and out and unlocks more useful equipment, including the ability to add blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
• LT with leather seats: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin and the added tech that comes with leather-seat versions, including the larger 8-inch display, navigation, and the Bose audio system.
• RS: This is the one to consider if you want the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, which is unique to this trim and gives you a different powertrain choice from the rest of the lineup.
• Premier: This is the trim to target if you want more of the Traverse’s advanced safety equipment, since it’s one of the trims required to get forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist.
• High Country: This is the top-end choice if you want the most fully equipped Traverse, standard AWD, and the most upscale presentation.

The safety-package note is important here: the most advanced driver-assistance features are not broadly available on lower trims, so if those systems matter to you, shop the Premier or High Country.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Traverse?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,679 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.92% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,130, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $15,130 sits slightly below last year's $16,797.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the vehicle in good condition, you’ll be better positioned to protect value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse safe?

The Traverse is available with all the modern driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems, but you need to buy the pricey Premier or High Country trim levels to access forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Rear Seat Reminder is a useful family-focused feature, and the Traverse also offers a 360-degree surround-view camera system and a rear camera mirror. One important caveat is that the most desirable active-safety features are not available on lower trims, so safety-minded shoppers should pay close attention to trim level.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Chevrolet’s redesign gives this year a larger, more useful, and more efficient package, and the expert review calls it a strong bargain compared with full-size sport-utes.

The bottom line: The 2018 is the right pick if you want the redesigned Traverse with strong space, comfort, and value, especially now that prices have eased. If you’re shopping on a tighter budget, a different year may cost less, but the 2018 gives you the benefit of the redesign and a more modern overall package.
