How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe cost?

Prices have softened 12.61% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,717 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe a good car?

Generally — 4.27/5 from owners and 6.67/10 from our experts, the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe is a strong fit if you want a big SUV with presence rather than the most rational people-mover in the class. The Tahoe’s appeal centers on its styling and V8 character, and owners repeatedly praise its spaciousness, comfort, and powerful performance.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners also highlight its roomy cabin, family-friendly comfort, and updated features, while the review summary points to strong performance and a favorable comparison with competitors. In use-case terms, this is the SUV you buy when you want a full-size Chevrolet with attitude, not when you’re optimizing for maximum practicality.

34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.27/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many shoppers find spacious, comfortable, and dependable enough for family use over time. The expert commentary also emphasizes that this is a straightforward, familiar SUV rather than a complicated one, which can be a plus when you want something you can count on.

Chevrolet also includes useful ownership-minded features such as Teen Driver technology and Rear Seat Reminder, which support day-to-day confidence. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is paying a premium for a truck that may have been used hard or poorly maintained, so condition and history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe?

At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, tire wear, and whether the SUV’s equipment and trim level match the seller’s description.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tahoe’s styling is a major part of its appeal, and higher trims add more upscale presentation and equipment. Base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to feature gaps, especially if you want a more premium feel.
• Powertrain: You can find a 5.3-liter V8 with a 6-speed automatic, and a bigger 6.2-liter V8 paired with a 10-speed automatic. The larger engine brings stronger performance, but it also comes with higher fuel costs.
• Safety package: Chevrolet includes blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. Adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is reserved for Premier trim, and it is not available with the bigger 6.2-liter V8.
• Infotainment: The Tahoe uses MyLink with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar subscription services, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. It also has physical knobs and buttons, plus an 8-inch driver information center and available head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The 6.2-liter V8 averaged 17 mpg on the test loop, and Chevrolet recommends premium fuel for that engine.

Which 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?

The 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, LT, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Tahoe’s size and image at the lowest starting price. It’s the trim to compare first if you’re shopping carefully and don’t need the most upscale equipment.
• LT: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without pushing you all the way to the top of the range. If you want the Tahoe experience with a better balance of equipment and price, this is the trim to target.
• Premier: This is the most upscale version, and it’s the one to consider if you want the richest feature set and the most premium feel. It also gets the adaptive cruise control/high-speed automatic emergency braking setup, though not with the bigger 6.2-liter V8.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is limited to Premier trim, and it cannot be paired with the 6.2-liter V8.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,717 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.61% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,346, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?

The current average of $22,379 sits slightly below last year's $25,609.

That price decline suggests the Tahoe has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the right price now and keep the SUV in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later. The current spread between the year-ago average and today’s average also shows that buyers are still price-sensitive, so resale will likely reward clean, well-kept examples more than rough ones.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.27/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe safe?

The Tahoe gets a mediocre three-star rating for rollover resistance from NHTSA, while earning five-star ratings in all other NHTSA crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet provides blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist systems to all Tahoe buyers. Adaptive cruise control with high-speed automatic emergency braking is reserved for Premier trim, and you can’t get it with the bigger 6.2-liter V8.

The main caveat is the rollover result, which is worth taking seriously in a tall, heavy SUV like this one. If safety is a top priority, you should pay close attention to trim-level equipment and remember that the Tahoe’s size and weight do not eliminate the need for careful driving.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.27/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Don’t try to rationalize the purchase of a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe; the appeal is really its styling and V8 engine burble.

The bottom line: If you want the Tahoe’s look, sound, and full-size presence, the 2018 is a sensible year to target because prices have eased and inventory is healthy enough to shop carefully. If your priority is maximum practicality or the lowest possible ownership cost, a different year or a different SUV may make more sense, but price-sensitive buyers can still find value here if they focus on condition and history.
