Is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise its power, fuel economy, comfortable ride, and good handling, and they also like its performance and luxury-like feel. Is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a truck that many drivers find dependable, with praise centered on power, fuel economy, and a comfortable ride. That said, the model’s reputation for transmission-related problems means you should pay close attention to maintenance records and how the truck has been driven. For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is manageable if you verify condition carefully and avoid examples with unclear service history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

At 65.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to transmission behavior, drivability, and signs of uneven wear. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, because those details matter more when a truck has a mixed history.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $22,378 sits slightly below last year's $25,006.

That price movement suggests the truck has softened in the used market, which can limit upside if you plan to sell soon. Even so, the Silverado’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction help support demand among shoppers who want a capable full-size pickup. If you buy well and keep the truck in good condition, you can improve your odds of holding value better over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $25,948, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $22,378 average.
• The redesign brings a more modern truck with a more spacious interior.

The 2018 is the better primary path if you want a lower entry price and strong owner satisfaction. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2018 gives you a compelling mix of value and capability, while the 2019 makes sense if you want to spend more for the newer redesign.
