How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 5.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,690 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.

Owners consistently praise its comfort and efficiency, and many also highlight the quality of the ride and the roomy, open-feeling cabin. The overview also fits that feedback: you get a midsize sedan with a polished feel, broad technology availability, and a practical back seat that works well for everyday use.

With 28.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive example.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with owners describing the car positively over time and emphasizing comfort, efficiency, and a trouble-free feel. That lines up with the model’s reputation as the strongest Malibu generation on reliability.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s overall reputation and more about choosing a well-kept example with a clean history and consistent maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 49.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any car that looks promising. Focus on condition details that matter most in a used sedan: bodywork quality, signs of prior repair, interior wear, and whether the car drives as smoothly as it should.

Because the Malibu’s equipment varied a lot by trim, it also helps to confirm that the features you want are actually present and working.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,690 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 49.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,520, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $11,520 sits slightly below last year's $12,225.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened a bit in the used market, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim quality than on broad market momentum alone.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $10,665, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $11,520 average.
• It offers a recently refined redesign with a polished, practical feel.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall value proposition, the 2018 is the better primary pick because it combines a lower current price, strong owner satisfaction, and a healthy deal share. If your budget is tighter, the 2017 is the better secondary path because it costs less while still delivering the Malibu’s core strengths.
