Used 2018 Chevrolet Equinox for Sale near Alabama

How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox cost?

Prices have softened 9.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,539 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Equinox options to compare.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Generally — the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating, which points to broad owner satisfaction with some clear tradeoffs. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners most often praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, and good fuel economy. The overview also frames it as a compact SUV with generous seating room and everyday practicality, which fits shoppers who want an easy-to-live-with family vehicle. At the same time, the market shows 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle many drivers have found dependable enough to live with day to day, especially when you value comfort and efficiency. The expert driving notes also describe the Equinox as composed and easygoing, with a powertrain that gets the job done without making the SUV feel demanding to own.

Chevrolet also emphasizes practical ownership support through standard connected services and child-focused safety tech, which can make the vehicle feel easier to count on. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some owners have raised concerns about engine reliability, so a careful mechanical inspection matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Equinox?

At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on mechanical condition, signs of uneven wear, and whether the vehicle’s equipment works as expected. Because this model year has mixed owner feedback, condition matters more than mileage alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans four trim levels, and the base model is the one most likely to leave out desirable comfort and safety equipment. Higher trims add more upscale features, while the Premier trim brings a more polished cabin and more available equipment.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic. AWD is available, and the review notes a later-available choice of additional turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes Rear Seat Reminder, Teen Driver technology, and OnStar Guidance Plan features such as automatic collision notification, crisis assist, and emergency services. Driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems are largely limited to the LT and Premier trims, and adaptive cruise control and full-speed-range automatic emergency braking are not available.
• Infotainment: Chevrolet’s MyLink system includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar subscription services, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection. The cabin also has multiple USB ports, and an embedded navigation system and Bose premium audio system are available.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the FWD 1.5-liter model should return 28 mpg in combined driving, while the review’s observed result was 23.3 mpg.

Which 2018 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LS, LT, and Premier.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest purchase price and can live without the nicer comfort and safety equipment found higher up the range.
• LS: This is the trim to target if you want a sensible value play, since it should give you a better balance of equipment and price than the base model.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because the safety and driver-assistance content is largely concentrated here and above.
• Premier: This is the one to choose if you want the most upscale cabin feel and the most available convenience features, but it is the least budget-friendly choice.

Safety-package features are concentrated in the LT and Premier trims, so shoppers who care about driver assistance should focus there.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,539 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,358, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $12,358 sits slightly below last year's $13,661.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that this model year is not showing strong appreciation pressure, so condition and trim quality will matter a lot when it comes time to list it. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should still attract attention, but you should not expect a strong premium just because the vehicle is a compact SUV.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes Rear Seat Reminder, Teen Driver technology, and OnStar Guidance Plan features such as automatic collision notification, crisis assist, and emergency services. Chevy’s driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems are largely limited to the LT and Premier trims, and you cannot get adaptive cruise control or a full-speed-range automatic emergency braking system.

One important caveat is that crash-test ratings were unavailable in the source material, so you should lean more heavily on the equipment list and trim selection when evaluating safety.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 redesign makes the Equinox smaller and more directly aligned with the compact SUV class.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $13,982, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $12,358 average.
• It adds HD rear-view and surround-view cameras for better visibility.

The bottom line: If you want the lower price and are comfortable shopping carefully, the 2018 is the better value path. If you can spend more and want the visibility upgrades, the 2019 is the smarter secondary option.
