CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Buick LaCrosse

Summary
With 270 currently listed for sale and an average price of $15,510, 27.8% of 2018 Buick LaCrosses for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Buick LaCrosse 5 / 5 stars.
65.6% of 2018 LaCrosse models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Buick LaCrosse stands out as a large, quiet sedan that leans into comfort rather than flash. It returned to full-size roots for 2017, and for 2018 it paired a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with eAssist for 35 mpg highway, while the V6 was matched to a nine-speed automatic transmission. That mix gives the LaCrosse a more modern feel than many buyers might expect from a traditional Buick, especially since the model also offered all-wheel drive and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay.
Inside, the LaCrosse aimed for a roomy, upscale atmosphere with a “waterfall” center console, a larger 15-cubic-foot trunk, and a bigger back seat. Available features such as ventilated front seats, a head-up display, wireless phone charging, and a partially digital instrument panel helped it feel current, though the cabin also drew criticism for flimsy plastic parts. Pricing was high for the brand when new, and that remains part of the car’s appeal and limitation: it offers a plush ride and a lot of equipment, but it was not a bargain when new and average prices in this generation stayed relatively elevated.

I bought the premium AWD model, its an exceptional car. Every bell and whistle you could possibly imagine, including heads up display. The 3.6 V6 is very peppy at 310 hp, and it gets decent gas mileage. The adaptive suspension is awesome and the car is unbelievably quiet. I wish GM hadnt discontinued this model, its an amazing car.

This is an exceptional vehicle. Too bad the market has inflated the price so much. No complaints otherwise.

How much does the 2018 Buick LaCrosse cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,568 |
| Year-Round Low | $15,562 |
| Year-Round High | $17,870 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $16,937 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.08% |
Prices have softened 8.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 267 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2018 Buick LaCrosse a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the LaCrosse’s appeal comes from its quiet, comfort-first character. The overview describes it as a large sedan with a roomy, upscale cabin, a plush ride, and a modern feature set that includes available all-wheel drive, Apple CarPlay, and a touchscreen infotainment system. If you want a traditional sedan that emphasizes comfort and space over flash, this model year fits that use case well. There are 28.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Buick LaCrosse reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview suggests a car built around comfort and everyday usability, with a roomy cabin and a relaxed driving character. It also notes some cabin materials criticism, so you should expect a used example to reward careful condition checking rather than assume every car will feel equally refined. For long-term ownership, the main risk is buying one that has been worn hard or poorly maintained, especially if interior quality has already started to show age.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Buick LaCrosse?
At 66.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any car that looks especially clean or unusually well priced. Focus on body condition, interior wear, and signs that the car’s comfort features still work properly, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has aged.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Buick LaCrosse?
This looks like a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s-market bargain.
- Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 267 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.08% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 66.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,562, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Buick LaCrosse's resale value?
The current average of $15,568 sits slightly below last year's $16,937.
That decline suggests the market has become a bit softer, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point but may also limit short-term appreciation if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy a clean, well-kept example so you have the best chance of holding value relative to the rest of the market. A car that presents well and has strong documentation should be easier to move when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Buick LaCrosse or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 66.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.08% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $15,416, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $15,568 average.
- The redesign brought a more premium feel and broadened Buick’s appeal.
The bottom line: You should start with the 2018 if you want the newer year and a market that has already softened, especially if comfort and features matter most. If your priority is saving a little money up front, the 2017 is the better secondary path, particularly if you find one with strong condition and a clean history.
