The V60 is Volvo’s smallest wagon—and it’s nothing like the boxy ones of old. Today’s V60 more closely resembles the attractive S60 sedan and comes in a variety of styles and trims, including the performance-oriented Polestar and rugged Cross Country.

Those looking for true performance, however, will likely want the V60 Polestar trim. It comes outfitted with a Polestar rear diffuser, split-corner front, 20-inch wheels with performance summer tires, and Brembo 6-piston 14.6-inch ventilated front brakes and 11.6-inch ventilated and slotted rear brakes. The final option in the lineup is the V60 Cross Country, which is available in Premier and Platinum trims like those of the T5 but with an extra 2 inches of ground clearance, perfect for travelling across rough terrain.

The V60’s interior offers room for up to 5 passengers and all the extra cargo space typical of a wagon. Maximum cargo capacity is 43.8 cubic inches, with a 68.9-inch cargo floor when the rear seats are folded. Even with passengers in the back, the 38.5-inch cargo floor makes it easy to load large and bulky items. It’s hardly an SUV, but the V60 offers many of the same perks in a smaller size.

Volvo’s Sensus Connect infotainment system comes with Bluetooth audio streaming, USB connectivity, a CD player, 8 speakers, and a 7-inch display screen. A premium Harman Kardon sound system is an available upgrade, with 12 speakers and an amplifier for even richer sound. An optional rear-seat entertainment system adds two 8-inch touchscreens embedded in the backs of the front headrests, with separate inputs and wireless headphones for each screen.

Volvo has a reputation for equipping its cars with all the latest safety technology, and the V60 does not disappoint. Dynamic Stability and Traction Control, antilock brakes, halogen headlights, LED daytime running lights, a City Safety low-speed collision-avoidance system, and emergency brake assist are standard on the base T5. Additional features available on higher trim levels include remote-controlled center locking, approach lighting, emergency brake-light activation, and active bending lights.

Pricing on the V60 starts at $36,150 for the base FWD T5 and gradually increases to $48,950 for the T6 AWD R-Design. Opt for the Cross Country Premier and you’re looking at $41,700, or take the leap to the powerful Polestar for $61,600.
